The idea
I wanted to build something different.
Not another chat app.
Not another social network.
Something… temporary.
The problem
Most online conversations are permanent.
Messages stay.
Profiles exist forever.
Everything is saved.
And because of that, people are not really honest.
They perform.
The concept
What if a conversation only existed for 24 hours?
No accounts.
No history.
No way to go back.
After 24 hours — everything disappears.
The build
I used:
- Next.js (frontend)
- Supabase (real-time + database)
- WebSockets for live messaging
The challenge wasn’t just technical.
It was psychological.
What changed
When people know the chat will disappear:
- They open up faster
- They skip small talk
- They become more honest
No future consequences = different behavior
The interesting part
Users don’t try to “impress”
Because there’s no long-term identity.
No followers.
No profile.
No reputation.
Just a moment.
The result
It feels more real than most apps.
Which is strange…
Because it disappears.
