I Was Often Unhappy After a Haircut, So I Built HairstylesPro

People often say that changing your hairstyle is like making a fresh start.

I like that idea. Sometimes I want a different hairstyle simply because I want to see and feel a different version of myself.

But making that change has never been easy for me.

Before every haircut, I face the same two questions:

  1. What hairstyle should I choose?
  2. Will it actually look good on me?

A hairstyle can look great on another person and still feel completely wrong when I try it. Once the hair has been cut, however, there is no undo button. I often ended up feeling less satisfied than I had hoped.

I looked for a better way

I thought there must already be an app that could help.

What I wanted was simple: browse different hairstyles, choose a few that I liked, and preview them on my own photo before visiting a barber or salon.

I searched for a while, but I couldn't find anything that really solved the problem for me.

Some tools produced hairstyles that looked noticeably AI-generated. They didn't resemble hair that I would actually ask someone to cut.

Other tools looked better but offered too few hairstyles. If I still couldn't explore enough options, they didn't really help me decide what to choose.

So I decided to build it

Eventually, I had a simple thought:

If this is a real problem for me, it is probably a real problem for other people too.

That thought became HairstylesPro.

HairstylesPro lets you preview more than 600 hairstyles on your own photo. Instead of relying only on AI-generated hairstyle ideas, we carefully select styles based on real hairstyles worn by real people.

The goal is not to promise that a virtual preview will predict every detail of a real haircut. It is simply to help you explore more possibilities and make a more confident decision before committing to one.

Over time, I also added tools for trying different hair colors, previewing makeup, creating professional photos, and experimenting with other looks.

But the original reason I built the site has not changed: I wanted an easier way to answer one very personal question before my next haircut:

“Would this hairstyle suit me?”

If you have ever felt uncertain before getting your hair cut—or disappointed afterward—you are welcome to try HairstylesPro on your own photo.

I hope it helps you find a hairstyle that feels like you.
