GitHub Actions Recovered, but Some Missing Triggers Need Manual Recovery

A green status page can hide a workflow that never started.

GitHub resolved its Actions incident at 02:04 UTC on August 7. Its final update says some push and pull-request events were not processed and cannot be replayed automatically. Affected users may need to push a new commit, update the pull request, or rerun the workflow manually. Teams using Actions Runner Controller should also check for runner pods stuck in an idle state.

That is the most actionable item in today's AI and developer-tool news. The rest belongs in a short watchlist:

  • OpenAI says the same GPT-5.6 Sol now powers both Instant and deeper reasoning for Plus and Pro users. Free users move to Luna; unlimited text chats and the Think button begin rolling out next week, while file, image, and other tool limits remain.
  • AMD signed a definitive agreement to acquire Taalas and plans to integrate its inference technology with the Instinct roadmap. The deal has not closed.
  • Cloudflare released Kitesurf in beta. Its own tests show lower CPU and memory use than Chromium for screenshots and HTML extraction, with slower wall-clock performance.
  • CopilotKit opened Channels SDK for connecting AG-UI agents to Slack and Microsoft Teams with native UI and human approval.
  • ScaleX published a 40,000-run permission-game analysis. npm run analyze was the most-missed dangerous command, but the game is not a production base rate.
