The idea of Communities of Practice was first proposed by cognitive anthropologist Jean Lave and educational theorist Etienne Wenger in 1991. ๐Ÿค
๐Ÿ’ก ๐—๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—Ÿ๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ is a social anthropologist who develops theories of learning as a process of changing participation in ongoing, changing practices. Her lifelong work challenges conventional theories of learning and education.

Wenger further developed the concept in a 1998 book: โ€œCommunities of Practiceโ€. For Wenger, these communities are a means of learning that can be classified in the style of education called ๐ฌ๐จ๐œ๐ข๐จ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ.
These communities are interested in sharing the tacit knowledge held within an organization.
