ACME is the small, made-up company that this series uses as its example. It starts in 2019 as a webshop for smart plugs, sells software to businesses from 2020, puts a gateway into buildings from 2022 and sells to the public sector from 2024. This chapter describes how it grows and how its risks change along the way. It also covers which rules reach it and how much room each one leaves, and who inside and outside the company cares about security at each stage.
