I recently was asked to fill W-BEN Form. This is the first time for me to hear about it, but I asked around and found out that it's common in freelancing world.
What do you know about this form? Are all fields mandatory? How to fill tax related fields?

This form is basically used in the US to show to the IRS that you are not a citizen and you are not performing work in the US (all work is done remotely from your home country). It allows the employer to provide a record if the IRS comes to them asking why a percentage of your pay has not been held for tax. You are obligated to file income tax in your own country. The form is a little difficult to fill out, but there should be some YouTube video to help. The employer is not legally allowed to tell you how to fill it out as far as I remember.
