I think that although NestJS has a wide ecosystem of native and third-party libraries, it has a number of significant flaws in its architecture. If these flaws are fixed now, it could cause a lot of breaking changes. Because of this, NestJS does not even have plans for the near future to switch to ESM, let alone more significant changes.
