I'm joining the community as a beginner and thought a great way to do it would be to post frequently and document my journey. Hoping this helps me and anyone else that's just starting out.
I'm just about to start a Front-End Web Development bootcamp with Ed.X
Let me know if you've done this before and I'd be super grateful for any advice or top tips!

Welcome Nicole! If you are going to post an ongoing story you can make your posts a "Series" using the gear icon at the bottom of the posting page. This helps in getting exposure to your earlier posts as the series continues and provides good context without you having to constantly restate the whole of the history behind an individual article.
It'll be interesting to hear how you get on :)

I have a background in Graphic Design but I've always been really interested in coding.
A friend of mine did a similar bootcamp for Software Engineering and only had good things to say about it, so I thought I'd seize the opportunity while bootcamps like these still exist :)
If you can find a passion for making things, then this Bootcamp will give you tools you can use to do that. You need the passion though, that's what gets you through the darker hours...
You need the things you make to work, not to be perfect, your perfect will be different from everyone else's in any case. Impostor syndrome is the enemy as others have said, we all get it, 40 years in - I still get it - but it's just a thing inside you that you need to "shut the f' up"; make things that work, nothing else matters.

Oh my goodness, I'm also in the Ed.X boot camp currently. I love it! However, it's very fast-paced. Make sure you have good notes and ask a lot of questions. Don't forget the free tutoring! It's a life saver

Odds are that what will happen next has nothing to do with what you currently have in mind, in both positive, negative and unexpected ways
But what you really want to be able to look back later is why you are doing all of this

Coding will be challenging, but incredibly rewarding. You'll feel like giving up a lot, and ask yourself why you are even doing this, and you're not qualified.
That's normal. I ask myself this once a week, and I'm more than a decade in.
Coding always looks like a solo sport, but it's not. Keep going and find like-minded individuals/communities to help you. Rooting for your success! 🙂

Hello and welcome to coding for front end.
I can only recommend Scrimba as an addon to your Edx bootcamp as they have hands on tutorials with actual coding in the browser. That helped me solidify some of the lessons.
I never went to a boot camp 🏕️ for coding and was self taught after not getting a job as a UX designer after my UX bootcamp. But somehow ended up as a UI developer.
Most important is to not to give up and don’t be ashamed to copy and paste code you Google or Stackoverflow as a beginner. All port of the learning journey.

Congrats on the new journey, you will do well just remember everything you learn from those classes you need to practice, practice, and practice.
I went through Ed.X at University of Texas in Austin, really good course for Full Stack Developer bootcamp... Just remember you are going to be cramming in lots of information in short amount of time if you doing the 24 weeks part-time.
You will discover that sometimes you get grades back not to your liking but the good thing is you can resubmit the assignment to get a better grade. Don't fret to much about trying to get perfect grades while in there, you main focus is utilizing the Teacher, Teacher Assistant's, and tutors to grasp the most information you can.. Remember fulltime get's two tutor sessions a week, part-time only gets one session a week. Always schedule your tutor session each week, even if you do not have anything spend time asking the tutor to teach some of the more modern senior writing examples of coding something just use your tutor each week its FREE!

Oh for I forget,
Set yourself up a github repo for class even though they will give a repo to pull from, set your own up so you can create a branch for each class day to push up what you learned. This not only helps build up your commit history but can help keep things organized.

At some points, most developers get the imposter syndrome in their heads for some reason, if /when that time comes, go through your posts and see how much you have grown.
