AWS had many update on August 2025
From new AI guardrails to seamless VMware migration, from a global-scale stress test during Prime Day to a game-changing AWS Marketplace launch in India — the updates this month highlight AWS’s focus on trust, modernization, and global expansion.
🛠 Major Product Announcements
🔹 Amazon Bedrock Guardrails – Smarter & Safer AI
*What is AWS Bedrock?
Amazon Bedrock is a comprehensive, secure, and flexible service for building generative AI applications and agents. Amazon Bedrock connects you to leading foundation models (FMs), services to deploy and operate agents, and tools for fine-tuning, safeguarding, and optimizing models along with knowledge bases to connect applications to your latest data so that you have everything you need to quickly move from experimentation to real-world deployment.
Definition by AWS
In Short words it is a Service used to build generative AI applications and agents.
What is Bedrock Guardrails?
It is like a safety filter of AI models
Example
When you use an AI model (like for chatbots, text generation, or analysis), sometimes it can:
Say something unsafe or offensive
Reveal sensitive information
Or just make things up (hallucinations)
Guardrails prevent that.
They are rules you set (like “don’t share personal data” or “avoid medical advice”), and AWS makes sure the AI follows those rules every time it responds.
👉 In short: Guardrails = AI safety rules that keep outputs accurate, safe, and compliant.
Now they introduced new features in AWS Bedrock Guardrails on August 6 2025
Automated Reasoning Checks — Now Generally Available
What It Is: A technology using formal verification and mathematical logic to assess AI model outputs against predefined business rules or domain knowledge. It offers up to 99% accuracy in validating that responses are accurate and aligned with policies — essentially reducing hallucinations and ambiguity
Key Capabilities:
- Support for large documents—up to 122,880 tokens (text scans of ~100 pages)
- Simplified policy validation—save and rerun tests over time
- Automated scenario generation—auto-generate test cases from rule definitions
- Enhanced feedback—natural language suggestions for refining policies
- Custom validation thresholds—tune confidence levels per enterprise needs
🔹 OpenAI Models on AWS
AWS announced that OpenAI’s open-weight models are now available on Amazon Bedrock.
Until now, Amazon Bedrock had already integrated leading foundation models (FMs) from A*nthropic (Claude), **Cohere (Command-R), Stability AI *(Stable Diffusion),** AI21 Labs, and Mistral.
But now OpenAI Models are also added.
🔹 Amazon Application Recovery Controller Region Switch
What is Amazon ARC?
** Amazon Application Recovery Controller** helps you manage and automate recovery of your applications across AWS Regions and Availability Zones (AZs). These capabilities make it easier to reliably recover applications without the manual steps required by traditional tools and processes.
Definition by AWS
With the August 2025 update, AWS introduced Region Switch for Application Recovery Controller (ARC), a powerful new feature that makes cross-region disaster recovery simpler, faster, and automated.

🔹 Amazon Elastic VMware Service (Amazon EVS) – Detailed Breakdown
What is AWS EVS?
Amazon EVS is a new managed service that lets enterprises run VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) directly inside their own AWS VPCs.
- You bring your VMware-based workloads (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, vCenter).
- AWS runs it for you natively in the cloud, without the need for complex re-architecting.
- You still use the same VMware tools your IT teams already know — no steep learning curve.
Why it matters?
Seamless Hybrid Cloud
Familiar VMware Tools + AWS Elasticity
👉 In short:
Amazon EVS bridges the VMware-to-cloud gap, letting enterprises modernize faster by combining the familiarity of VMware with the scalability of AWS.
🔹 🌏 AWS Marketplace in India
- It is Launching by end of 2025 in India.
- Some key points are enables INR billing, simplified procurement, and regulatory alignment.
- Opens global AWS customers to Indian SaaS vendors.
💡 Why it matters: A huge unlock for India’s SaaS ecosystem, giving startups global reach.
I already posted a detailed Blog on this So check it out.

👥 Community & Learning – August 2024 Updates
🌟 AWS Heroes Program
**
**What is it?
It is a program that recognizes exceptional community leaders who share knowledge, create content, speak at events, and help others grow in the AWS ecosystem.
Now new Recognitions are added in August 2024:
- AI/ML Heroes → Experts pushing boundaries in generative AI, ML Ops, and applying AWS services like SageMaker & Bedrock.
- Serverless Heroes → Builders who drive adoption of serverless services (Lambda, DynamoDB, Step Functions, API Gateway) through real-world solutions.
- Security Heroes → Specialists helping organizations implement best practices with IAM, GuardDuty, Security Hub, KMS, and more.
📈 Prime Day 2025 – AWS at Scale
Prime Day once again proved AWS’s global-scale resilience:
We all know that Prime Day Sales is the Amazon's Biggest global shopping event and Amazon is running in AWS cloud infrastructure.
Since Amazon runs on AWS, AWS actually use this has a stress test
for AWS infrastructure.
Some highlights this time are:
- SageMaker → 626B inference requests.
- ECS & Fargate → 18.4M tasks/day (+77% YoY).
- Lambda → 1.7T invocations/day.
- API Gateway → 1T+ requests/day.
- CloudFront → 3T requests (+43% YoY).
- EBS → 20.3T I/O ops, 1 exabyte/day.
- Aurora → 500B transactions.
- SQS → 166M msgs/sec peak.
- GuardDuty → 8.9T log events/hour (+49%).
💡 Why it matters: Prime Day acts as AWS’s ultimate stress test — proving unmatched elasticity and reliability.
