Why should every shared document be downloadable? We invented Onetimeview

For decades, we've assumed that sharing a file means giving someone a copy.

But does it always have to?

I built OneTimeView, a feature that lets you share a PDF or video without giving the recipient a downloadable copy.

The goal isn't to lock people out.
It's to let them view the content without needing to keep it forever.

For many use cases, that's all that's needed.

Think about:

a contract someone only needs to read;
a confidential presentation;
a draft document;
a report;
an invoice;
or any file that doesn't need to live permanently on someone else's device.

OneTimeView is designed to reduce unnecessary copies.

It includes protections against downloading, screen recording and screenshots, making it much harder for recipients to save the content instead of simply viewing it.

The idea is simple:

Not every shared file needs to become another file stored forever.

I'm curious what other founders think.

Would you use a feature like this, or do you believe downloading should always be the default?
