Fixed, Random or Flap Folder? Matching a Carton Sealer to Your Packing Line

Most packing lines that move from tape guns to a machine end up asking the same question: which kind of carton sealer fits our boxes? Here is the decision we walk customers through at PackForge, based on the nine models we build in Faridabad.

1. How many box sizes do you pack in a day?

  • One or two sizes: a fixed size, semi automatic sealer is enough. You set the width and height once and every box of that size runs through.
  • Many sizes, changing order by order: look at a random size sealer, which adjusts to each carton on its own.

2. Who closes the top flaps?

On a standard sealer the operator folds the four top flaps by hand before the box enters. If you want to remove that step, a flap folding sealer such as our 5050Z folds the flaps and tapes the box, at about 25 cartons a minute.

3. Is there compressed air on the floor?

Type Example model Power
Compact / semi automatic 102TUS, 102TU Electric only
Random size 102TR Compressed air
Flap folder 5050Z Compressed air
Edge sealer 5050J Compressed air

If you have no compressor, an electric model like the 102TU (20 cartons a minute, 2 or 3 inch tape) avoids that extra cost.

4. How heavy or valuable are the cartons?

For heavy, valuable or export boxes, a centre seam alone may not be enough. An edge sealer adds tape along the top and bottom edges as well, giving an H-seal.

5. Do you also strap the boxes?

A taping and strapping combo like the 102PLS tapes and straps each carton in a single pass.

Budget

Our compact sealers start at Rs 57,500 + GST, and the full price list for all nine models, with tape widths and box sizes, is here: PackForge carton sealing machine range
