Let's be honest about the "free PDF tool" experience.
You need to do one small thing — merge two files, shave a PDF under an email limit, drop a signature on a form. You find a site, and then:
- "Create an account to continue."
- "You've used your 2 free tasks today."
- "Your file is ready — upgrade to remove the watermark."
A thirty-second job turns into a sign-up, a countdown, or a document with someone else's badge stamped across it.
I got tired of it. So I built PDFKing — 23 PDF tools with none of that.
No account. No watermark. No daily limit. No ads.
The Problem With Most "Free" PDF Tools
If you search for "compress PDF online" or "merge PDF free," you'll find hundreds of sites that look helpful and then wall you off at the last step:
- Do most of the task for free
- Hit you with a limit, a watermark, or a login right when you're about to finish
- Offer the upgrade
That's a funnel, not a tool. The free tier exists to make you feel the friction and pay — which is fine as a business model, but frustrating when you just need the file done.
I wanted the opposite: open the tool, do the job, close the tab. No relationship required.

The Rules I Set for Myself
A few principles shaped the whole thing:
- No sign-up. No account, no email, nothing to log in for.
- No watermark, ever. Your output looks like yours — no badge, on any tool.
- No daily limit. Merge ten contracts at midnight if you need to.
- No ads getting between you and the task.
- Name tools by what they do, so you're not hunting through nested menus for a basic action.
- Nothing to install. It runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari — which also means it works on locked-down work and school machines.
What It's Good For (and What It Isn't)
Good for the everyday jobs that actually come up:
- One file instead of many → Merge PDF
- Too big to email → Compress PDF
- Need to rewrite the text → PDF to Word, then Word to PDF to send it back
- A quick visible change → Edit PDF
- Needs a signature → Sign PDF
- Sensitive content to remove → Redact PDF
Honest about what it's not: this is a focused everyday toolkit, not an enterprise publishing suite. If you need certified digital signatures, PDF/A archiving, or professional print production, that's still Adobe's world. PDFKing is for the 95% of PDF jobs that aren't those.
Why I'm Posting
Partly to share something I found useful and think others will too. Partly because "completely free, no catch" only helps people who know it exists — the big names have years of SEO and habit behind them, and a better free tool doesn't matter if nobody finds it.
