This is, of course, a deeply personal choice, but I feel this work truly deserves to be highlighted here for several reasons.
For one, this feels like the right community for it. And beyond that, I have always felt that it is difficult — and often unnecessary — to separate development from content and art. We are human beings who love to create, and creation naturally brings many things together. At least for me, these areas have never existed as sharply separated categories.
That is why storytelling, craftsmanship, and overall quality have always mattered to me so much — especially now, in the age of AI, when more and more people ask what role is left for us. My answer is simple: us. We matter because we are here.
One of the reasons this particular piece resonated with me so strongly is that I watch AI-generated videos on a regular basis, and what I pay attention to is not mainly the technical execution. What I look for is the human work behind it: whether the creator’s intention comes through, the same way it does in a painting or a film.
When I saw this work, I immediately felt as if I had traveled back in time. More than ten years ago, when I was playing WoW, I started with a Tauren character, and instead of feeling like I had entered a violent hack-and-slash RPG, I found myself in a world that brought back for me the peaceful atmosphere of the old Wild West — a vision of the endless plains before conquest erased the people who once belonged to them. And all of that was blended with a prehistoric animal world in such a memorable way.
This piece brings back that same feeling in an almost cinematic form, thanks both to the power of AI and to the creative vision of its makers.
There was also a more personal connection for me: my wife used to make leather shoes and bags for many years, so that added another layer that really touched me.
It stood out like a burning torch among the countless AI videos built mainly on spectacle.
