Wix Users Targeted by Sophisticated Email Scam Pretending to Be Official Support — Statement by Asaaju Peter

A website specialist, Asaaju Peter of Phemight Technologies, has raised awareness over a growing scam targeting Wix CMS users worldwide. According to him, many users have recently received emails claiming to be from the Wix Support Team, warning them about supposed errors or security issues on their websites.

However, investigations revealed that these emails are not from Wix, but from individuals posing as support agents. The scammers gather website information through online research tools and then send messages that appear professional, complete with reference numbers and technical language to create fear and urgency.

“As soon as the user responds, they try to convince them to pay for fixing errors that don’t actually exist,” Peter explained. He noted that one major red flag is the email address used. These scammers often use emails that include the word “Wix”, but end in @gmail.com, @email.com, or other non-official domains.

He advised all Wix users to verify the sender’s email carefully before responding to any message claiming to be technical support.

Wix official support never contacts users randomly through Gmail or personal email accounts — they use support@wix.com or verified in-app support channels.

Peter urged website owners to stay cautious:

“If you receive any unsolicited support message, confirm first. Don’t allow fear to make you pay for a problem that doesn’t exist.”
