Most password managers I tried are built around website logins. Which is fine, but a lot of what people actually need to keep somewhere is bank stuff. Account number, IFSC code, which card belongs to which bank. That usually ends up in a notes app or a chat with yourself.
So I built Self Vault, an Android app for logins, bank accounts and cards.
What it does
- Logins and all your passwords, like any password manager.
- Bank accounts with the IFSC field built in, not stuffed into a "notes" box.
- Several cards under the same bank, so you can see them grouped.
The storage decision
I didn't want to run a server holding people's bank details. Your vault is encrypted on your phone, behind a master password only you know. Nothing is stored on our servers.
The tradeoff is real though. If you forget the master password, I can't reset it for you, there's no "forgot password" email. I'd rather be upfront about that than pretend it's free.
What I'd like feedback on
- If you use a password manager on Android, what would make you trust one from a small developer?
- Is the bank/card layout useful, or would you just use a secure note for that?
It's free on Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nexdhara.password
