I’m a CS junior, and I’m in the middle of building this, not at the start of it.
There’s a specific kind of tired that comes from being the scheduler. A chat window for the code, a tab for the docs, a terminal agent for the build. None of them know about each other, so you’re the wire between them, all day.
One night I closed my laptop with everything half finished. The next morning it was all still there, waiting for me to reconnect it. Work only existed while I was looking at it.
So I built a place for it to live.
SHADOW is a platform where you deploy agents. Each has its own chat, model, permissions and schedule, and runs on your own PC with your own keys.
You give an agent a goal, not six instructions. It writes a plan first, and you approve it, which is where you catch a misunderstanding while it’s still cheap. Then it works inside the folders you granted and asks before anything risky, showing the exact command. Then it reports what it did and what’s queued.
The first version minimised my editor mid-sentence to reach something behind it. I was annoyed, and that annoyance became the whole product. Each agent now gets only the folders you pick, only the commands you see first, and a separate browser profile. Screen control can only be started by you. Nothing an agent reads can widen its permissions, and system folders and credential stores stay blocked.
The morning after, the reports were finished. I answered the two things that needed me and got on with real work.
Windows 11, on the Microsoft Store, free, no account.
What would you hand over tonight, if it didn’t mean explaining it twice?
