Canva vs Looka for a logo: pick by what you want to hold at the end

"Canva or Looka?" sounds like a question about which one makes a nicer logo. It usually isn't. It's a question about what you want to be holding at the end: a finished kit of files, or a design you'll keep pushing around for weeks. Both tools can put a mark on a screen. They don't hand you the same thing afterwards.

This is a short version of our guide, Canva vs Looka. It only uses the rankings we've already published. There are no prices or design scores here, on purpose. Check each vendor's pricing page before you pay.

The short version

On our Best for Logo Design list the order is Looka, LOGO.com, Brandmark, then Canva.

  • "Generate the mark and the files around it." Use Looka, and expect to buy the download.
  • "I'll keep editing it like any other design." Use Canva.
  • "I want to start in a free account and edit." Use LOGO.com.
  • "Generate an icon and let me pay once." Use Brandmark.

Looka: when the package is the point

Looka is first. You give it a company name and an industry, pick styles, colors and symbols, and it generates marks you can tweak. Its pages describe vectors, color variations, cards, social templates and a short brand note around the logo. The maker says it's free and lets you continue as a guest, but its pricing page doesn't show a free plan: it sells a brand kit subscription and one-time logo packages. Generating a screen full of marks isn't the same as owning the vector.

Leave it when you'd rather nudge type and color on templates (that's Canva), or when you want a generated icon and a single purchase (that's Brandmark).

Canva: when you'll keep editing

Canva is fourth, and that's a different job, not a weaker Looka. Its logo maker offers templates, a drag-and-drop editor and an AI generator. It's on the list so a logo you'll keep changing has a home. Canva calls the maker free, but we don't record a free tier for it, because we didn't find a pricing table that clearly showed one.

Leave it when what you need on day one is the download package Looka describes.

The two in between

LOGO.com is second. Its pricing page shows a Free column that can create, save and edit designs, with fuller brand files on the paid columns. It's the one that lets you live inside a saved design before paying anything. Brandmark is third: generative icons, SVG, PNG and PDF, sold as one-time packages, with no free tier shown.

The one rule

Decide what you want to be holding at the end, a kit or an editable design, before you open either tab. The full breakdown, plus Looka vs LOGO.com, Brandmark vs Looka and the job-first Best AI tool for a logo, is on our Canva vs Looka guide.
