We Built India's First Self-Paced Learning Platform for Government Exam Students — 2 Year+. 5 People. 1000+ Articles.

Let me be honest with you.
This is not a "I coded this in a weekend" story.

This is a "5 people, 2 year+ , countless nights,
1000+ articles written, and a live product used by
real students" story.

The Problem We Saw

I'm Satyam Kumar — B.Tech CSE (AI & ML) student at
Lovely Professional University (LPU), Phagwara.

Every year, millions of Indian students prepare for
SSC, Banking, Railway and Defence government exams.
These are not easy exams. They require months —
sometimes years — of consistent, structured preparation.

But the resources available? Either too expensive.
Too unorganized. Or built for profit, not for the student.

Our founder Jan Mohammad saw this gap clearly.
And he brought together a team of 5 to fix it.

I was one of those 5.

What We Built — Courage Library

Courage Library is India's
first self-paced learning platform built exclusively
for government exam aspirants.

Not a YouTube channel. Not a PDF dump. A real,
structured, self-paced learning platform — like
Coursera, but built specifically for SSC, Banking,
Railway and Defence students in India.

Here's what we built over 12 months:

  • 1000+ articles across multiple subjects — written, structured, and organized from scratch
  • Self-paced learning — students study at their own speed, on their own schedule
  • Lifetime access model — pay once, study forever. No monthly subscriptions draining student wallets
  • Per-student progress tracking — every student knows exactly where they stand
  • Razorpay payment gateway — real transactions, real revenue model
  • Supabase backend — authentication, database, file storage, all production-grade
  • Mobile-first UI — because 90% of our students are on phones, not laptops

What 1 Year of Real Work Looks Like

People talk about "building in public" like it's
glamorous. It is not.

Here is what it actually looked like for us:

Writing article number 1 was exciting.
Writing article number 100 was discipline.
Writing article number 500 was belief.
Writing article number 1000+ was proof.

Every week for a year, our team showed up. Someone
wrote content. Someone built features. Someone tested.
Someone fixed what broke. Someone reached out to
students and listened to their feedback.

No funding. No investors. No viral moment.
Just 5 people who believed India's government exam
students deserved something better.

The Tech Behind It

Stack we used to build and run Courage Library:

  • Frontend — HTML, CSS, JavaScript (clean, fast, mobile-optimized)
  • Backend — Supabase (auth, database, storage)
  • Payments — Razorpay
  • Content — 1000+ hand-written, structured articles

Simple choices, deliberately made. When you're building
for students in tier 2 and tier 3 cities across India,
performance and simplicity matter more than fancy
frameworks.

Why This Matters for India

Every year, over 2 crore students appear for
government exams in India.

Most of them come from small towns. Most of them
cannot afford ₹5,000/month coaching fees. Most of
them are studying on a ₹8,000 phone with limited data.

Courage Library is built for them.

Self-paced. Affordable. Structured. In their hands,
on their phones, at their speed.

We believe this is just the beginning. We are
constantly improving the platform — adding more
content, more features, better experience — with
the goal of making Courage Library the best
government exam preparation platform in India.

That goal has not changed since day one.

What I Personally Learned

I joined this team as a developer. I left year one
as a builder.

There is a difference.

A developer writes code. A builder ships things that
work for real people. A builder sits with the
frustration of a bug that breaks production at 11pm.
A builder reads a student's message saying "I finally
understood this topic" and feels something no
classroom ever made them feel.

Being part of Courage Library — alongside our
founder Jan Mohammad and 3 other incredible teammates
— taught me more about engineering, product thinking,
and human empathy than any university course ever could.

What I'm Building Now

Alongside Courage Library, I have built:

Medlyf — 10-minute medicine delivery PWA with
real-time pharmacy price comparison, prescription
verification, partner dashboards. Stack: React,
Supabase, Google Maps, Razorpay.

Safe Text Monitor — ML pipeline for multi-label
toxic text classification using NLP, TF-IDF,
Scikit-Learn on Kaggle Jigsaw dataset.

DSA Visualizer — interactive algorithm animation
tool built as my LPU Summer Training capstone.

To Every Student Reading This

If you are preparing for a government exam —
SSC, Banking, Railway, Defence — go to
couragelibrary.in. It was built for you.
By people who genuinely care.

If you are a developer in college wondering
whether to build something real — do it.
Do not wait for the perfect idea, the perfect
team, or the perfect time.

Start. Stay consistent. Ship.

1000 articles did not get written in one day.
They got written one article at a time,
every single day, for one full year.

Let's Connect
