The NYT Wordle gives you one 5-letter puzzle per day. WordleUnlimited Pro charges for word lengths beyond 5 letters.
The Wordle at Ultimate Tools gives you four word lengths free: 4, 5, 6, and 7 letters, all in unlimited mode. Daily mode uses the classic 5-letter format.
How to Change Word Length
- Open the free Wordle game
- Click Unlimited (word length selector only appears in unlimited mode)
- Select 4, 5, 6, or 7 using the length buttons
- The game picks a new word of that length instantly
- Guess the word in 6 tries — same rules as 5-letter Wordle
The grid adjusts automatically — 4-letter tiles are wider, 7-letter tiles are narrower.
How Difficulty Scales With Length
| Length | Words in list | Avg. entropy per guess | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 letters | ~400 words | High | Easier |
| 5 letters | ~540 words | Medium-High | Classic |
| 6 letters | ~170 words | Medium | Harder |
| 7 letters | ~90 words | Low | Hardest |
With fewer possible words in 7-letter mode, your deductions are tighter — but the longer the word, the more information each guess gives you too.
Tips for 6 and 7 Letter Wordle
Start with common letter combinations. For 6-letter words, opening guesses with words that contain STARNE or SATORI cover the most common English letter frequencies.
Pay attention to word endings. Many 6 and 7-letter words end in common suffixes: -ING, -TION, -LY, -ED, -ER, -EST. If your greens cluster at the end, the suffix is probably one of these.
Use 7-letter mode for vocabulary building. Less common words appear at 7 letters — and deducing them forces you to think about vocabulary you know but rarely use actively.
4-Letter Mode for Beginners
4-letter Wordle is meaningfully easier — shorter words, fewer positions to track, and simpler vocabulary. Good entry point for:
- Children learning to spell
- ESL learners building English vocabulary
- Players who want faster games between 5-letter rounds
What About the Daily Mode?
Daily mode always uses 5-letter words — the same format as the original Wordle. One shared puzzle per day, resets at midnight. Your win streak is saved across browser sessions.
Unlimited mode is where the word length selector lives. Each round gives you a fresh random word from the selected length's word list.
No watermarks, no accounts, no subscription. All four word lengths are free.
