What are your predictions for how the web will look like 10 years from now?

What are your predictions for how the web will look like 10 years from now? Will frontend frameworks like react still exist or will everything change completely? Answer in the comments 👇, I want to see what y'all think 🤔

CSS will remain the only language to style a web page and people will always struggle to center things ...

This is how you centre things, right?

Seems pretty easy to me, what is this CSS thing you are on about?

I will not inspect the code, I will not inspect the code, I will not ... I inspected the code:

I realised that all this time I was trying to use SVG to take you down, when it was HTML that was the key! 😋🤣

Brilliant Gif by the way!

  • HTML, CSS, and JS will stay
  • TypeScript might get actual static typing or native browser support.
  • More application move to web due to WebAssembly.
  • There will be more realtime connection like HotWire involved.
  • Browser compatibility will not be a problem.

Browser compatibility will not be a problem. --> oh no, this will remain the biggest problem ...

Browser compatibility will also be a problem if there are not enough browsers that could be compatible to each other, because all of them are the same browser.

I think we'll see the continued evolution of Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) as a true single codebase solution for desktop and mobile targets. Hopefully big tech works to ensure that installing one is just as easy as a native app.

We need apple to get on board in that case, I hope you're right 😅

I think that frontend frameworks will definitely continue to exist, and the UI elements will be more app-like than web-like, as we know it today.

Some think the primary way of interacting with the web will be more AR / VR-based, but I really don't think so for the majority of the world.

i feel js will dominat more than the web, wasm might even become the new thing, pwas are every where, html templating and template engines will rise (and web components), deno will maybe take over node js, canvas based rendering content might grow, photshop writen in node js with electron? every one using a version of chromium, mobile dev is done using html and js, css is the new art tool, linux is re wrriten in deno. Alot of this is my imagination I would really love if it happend.

I lived in a time before the internet. I've seen the two transitions from a content-only web to an interactive web and then further to a web of applications.

My prediction is that the borders between web and system will diminish even further with the steady progress of web assembly, which is already happening. The only rather small missing piece is now a way to directly access some system features (behind a permission system, obviously) from web assembly.

To get back to the original question, HTML, CSS and JS (or TS) will still be popular and frameworks will still exist. They might get augmented by web assembly and languages like C# (blazor), Rust or Go. There just will be more ways they allow developers to deploy their software.

The internet will follow the same pattern as satellite television did. It will become more and more locked down and monetized.

Why do you think so 🤔?

In 10 years, our whole internet will be migrated to the decenzralized space. The web3.0. Everything will go beyonc SaaS and PaaS. Simple operations will be powered by blockchain technology by default.
