I Joined DEV 4 Years Agoโฆ But This Is My First Post ๐
A few days ago I received the Four Year Club badge on DEV.
That made me realize something surprising
My account is 4 years old, but Iโve never actually written a post here until now.
How It Started
Like many developers, I originally signed up using my GitHub account while exploring different developer communities online.
At the time I was mostly:
Reading tutorials
Browsing programming discussions
Learning from other developersโ experiences
DEV quickly became one of the places where I could discover new tools, ideas, and ways of thinking about code.
Why I Stayed Silent
For a long time I was mainly a reader instead of a writer.
Sometimes it felt like:
I didnโt know enough yet
Other developers were much more experienced
My thoughts might not be useful
But over time I realized something important:
Every developer is learning something new and sharing that journey can help someone else.
Why I'm Posting Now
Getting the 4-year badge felt like a good reminder that it's time to start contributing instead of just observing.
From now on, I plan to:
Share things I learn while coding
Write about useful tools and resources
Document problems I solve while building projects
Even small lessons might help someone else.
What I'm Currently Learning
Right now I'm exploring topics like:
Programming fundamentals
Developer tools
Open-source projects
Improving my workflow as a developer
Hello DEV Community ๐
If youโve ever been a long-time reader who hasnโt posted yet, this is your sign to start.
What are you currently learning in tech?
I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
