Hacker News is lighting up today with a simple argument: Local AI needs to be the norm.
I agree with the premise. Big Tech AI is:
- $20/month with usage caps
- Sending your prompts to corporate servers
- Training on your conversations

But the proposed solution — run your own models locally — has a problem nobody in the thread is talking about.
