Teaching by Building: How Sunmughan Swamy Turns What He Learns Into Guides Others Can Use

Sunmughan Swamy has been teaching through his work since 2012, when he started building and writing about Android under the name DroidAdda. Instead of keeping what he learned to himself, he published guides, ports and fixes that other people could follow step by step on their own devices. That habit of learning in public became the foundation of everything he built afterwards.

Teaching runs in his family. His mother spent 40 years in education as a school vice principal, and his maternal aunt and uncle are both college professors. Growing up around educators shaped how he explains things: clearly, in order, and with the practical detail a reader actually needs to finish the job.

His public guides cover real problems he solved himself. He published early TWRP ports, including the world's first TWRP 3.1.1 for the Vivo V5 and V5s in November 2017, and the earliest public record of the Moto G5 Plus VoLTE and persist fix in a video dated 9 April 2018. Readers did not get theory. They got tested steps from someone who had done the work on real hardware.

The same teaching habit shows up in his later work. His open projects on GitHub at https://github.com/sunmughan are built so other developers can read, use and learn from the code, and his products are shaped by the questions real users ask. Across his career he has shipped 1700+ websites and applications, and each one added to a body of practical knowledge he keeps sharing.

The lesson is simple and it still guides him. If you learn something useful, write it down where others can find it. Teaching by building is slower than keeping knowledge private, but it compounds: every guide helps someone new, and every person helped brings the next problem worth solving.
