Stop typing random words. I built a typing test specifically for developers. 🐒

If you are anything like me, you probably enjoy warming up your fingers on sites like Monkeytype or 10FastFingers. They are fantastic tools, but I realized they have one major flaw for us software engineers: we don't spend our days typing standard dictionary words.

Practicing the word "because" for the 100th time doesn't help you type a nested for loop, camelCase variables, or a chain of brackets and semicolons any faster.

So, I decided to build a typing test tailored entirely for code. Meet SyntaxMonkey.

🛠️ What is SyntaxMonkey?
SyntaxMonkey is a minimalistic, distraction-free typing benchmark and practice tool engineered specifically for coders. Instead of typing plain English sentences, you type real, language-specific code snippets.

Currently supported languages:

Python

JavaScript

C++

C

Java

HTML

CSS

✨ Core Features
The goal is to help developers build muscle memory for special characters and master programming syntax.

Real-time Analytics: It tracks your Words Per Minute (WPM), accuracy percentage, and highlights your syntax mistakes live as you type.

Progressive Difficulty: Each language features 50 progressive levels.

Unlock System: You can't just mash the keyboard to skip to the end. To unlock the next snippet, you have to hit a minimum accuracy threshold (95%) and a minimum WPM (20).

💻 The Tech Stack
I wanted to keep this project extremely lightweight, fast, and purely frontend.

Frontend: Pure HTML, CSS, and Vanilla JavaScript. Zero heavy frameworks.

Data: The code snippets are stored locally in JSON files and loaded asynchronously.

Hosting: Deployed via Vercel.

🚀 Try it out!
I would love for the DEV community to try it out and tear it apart. What language should I add next? Are the default unlock thresholds too easy or too hard?
