Hey devs, Ishant here ๐
This oneโs ancient.
Back in Class 11, my teacher told me:
โBuild a road safety game.โ
So I built a Snakes & Ladders โ Road Safety Edition in Python.
Then the teacher never checked it.
And the project justโฆ sat on my PC for 2.0 years like a forgotten save file. ๐
Until today.
๐ฒ What is this?
Itโs classic Snakes & Ladders, but education-flavored:
๐ฆ Follow traffic rules โ ladder
๐ซ Break traffic rules โ snake
Instead of โoops bad luckโ, the game straight-up tells you:
- Overspeeding? Get cooked.
- Red light jump? Down you go.
- Follow rules? Free ladder, king ๐
๐ The worst part (aka the board)
Hereโs the fun constraint:
โ I was NOT allowed to design my own board.
I had to use a specific road safety image.
Which meant:
- Measuring tile size in pixels
- Calculating player movement manually
- Dividing & multiplying coordinates for every tile
- Aligning sprites so they donโt drift into another universe
Ironically, if I was allowed to design my own board, this wouldโve taken hours.
Instead, it took pain.
๐น๏ธ Features (yes it actually works)
- Dice-based movement
- Snakes & ladders with random road safety messages
-
Sound effects:
- Dice roll
- Snake (aka accident ๐)
- Ladder (bonus ๐)
Start menu + About Developer screen
-
Keyboard shortcuts:
- Space โ Roll dice
- Esc โ Exit
Packaged into a Windows EXE (no Python needed)
Built in about two weeks with Class 11 energy and zero fear.
๐ง Tech Stuff
- Python
- Pygame
- Packaged for Windows
- Open-sourced under MIT because why not
๐ Reality Check
This is NOT:
- A commercial game
- A viral hit
- A masterpiece
Itโs just an old project that deserved to see daylight instead of rotting forever.
๐ Here it is

Anyway, thatโs it.
No โlessons learnedโ.
No โjourneyโ.
Just a Class 11 project that finally escaped my hard drive.
