ChatGPT's iCloud Mail and Calendar plugins: what they can access, and what they need from you

ChatGPT now has two separate plugins for iCloud: one for iCloud Mail and one for iCloud Calendar. The global rollout across plans on web, desktop and iOS started on October 27, 2026, and availability can also depend on workspace app controls.

Setup

Both plugins need a dedicated Apple app-specific password, not your main Apple Account password.

What each plugin can do (with your permission)

  • Mail: search and read messages, manage messages and drafts, send emails, and search contacts.
  • Contacts: read-only lookup. It can find a contact but can't edit their data.
  • Calendar: read, schedule and update events that show up in the iPhone Calendar app or any other app using iCloud Calendar.

Access is limited to the iCloud services you actually connect.

Worth thinking about before you connect

Sending email and editing events are write actions, not just reads. If you're wiring this into a work routine, decide up front which actions you're comfortable delegating.

The same update also brings on-device features to Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Apple's office apps. Full rundown on Tadna: Apple Creator Studio and iCloud plugins in ChatGPT
