Two weeks ago I had 4 pages indexed on Google and 18 impressions.
Today: 27 pages indexed, 511 impressions, 2 clicks.
That's not a success story. That's what the beginning actually
looks like — and nobody shows you this part.
Here's what I'm doing: running a dev tools blog called
The Dev Brief. AI coding assistant reviews, comparisons,
pricing breakdowns. The kind of content developers search
for at 10pm when they're frustrated with their current tool.
I use Claude to generate the articles. Python script with
a system prompt I've iterated maybe 15 times trying to make
the output not sound like AI wrote it.
It still sounds like AI wrote it.
The articles that get impressions: DevOps tools, Cursor vs
Windsurf, GitHub Copilot pricing. Real searches, real intent.
The articles that get clicks: almost none yet.
0.4% CTR. Which means Google is showing my pages and
developers are looking at my title and choosing someone else.
That stings a little.
What's actually working so far:
Instant indexing — submitted all 32 articles at once and
watched indexed pages jump from 4 to 27 in 48 hours.
The OpenCode article — wrote it around a real news hook
(Anthropic blocked OpenCode in January) and it's the
strongest piece on the site.
What isn't working:
Reddit. Still building karma. Can't drop links yet.
Watching threads where my exact article would be useful
and having to stay quiet.
dev.to. Every post ends with a question. Nobody's answered yet.
I'm not giving up. But I'm also not going to pretend
this is going smoothly.
511 impressions. 2 clicks. Day 14.
Anyone else building content sites or SEO projects right now?
What did week 2 actually look like for you — and when did
it start to turn?
