Hi I'm Waylon
I am currently a Masters's candidate studying computer science at Colorado State University. After I completed my bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Philosophy, I was employed as a cybersecurity intern by the academic computing and networking services at CSU. I quickly developed a deep passion for cybersecurity and computer science and decide to go back to school to learn more.
While studying for my master's, I have been employed as a Junior Systems Administrator for the Computer Science department, managing over 600 Unix machines. This summer I am also working for Hedera Hashgraph as a developer advocate intern providing educational content on how to leverage the Hashgraph distributed network.
I love python, Linux, rust, and cryptography. If you share any of these interests, don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to sharing my technical experiences with all of you hear and learn from the community. Thanks for reading :)
great job Waylon
Thanks Fatima!
Great man

Awesome profile Waylon - do reach out if you are looking for a new home to work on crypto and privacy tech after your masters! :)
Hey Jack,
That means a lot! I'd be curious to know what you're working on! I'm currently working for Hedera Hashgraph (a distributed ledger) part time while i finish my masters. I'm excited to jump into industry and work on building some disruptive technologies.
Awesome - sounds great. I'll drop you a line privately on the gmail a/c in your bio!

Hello! I discovered this place by following a workshop online.
I have 33yo and I studied c++,php and mysql in my high school; after that I worked for 10 years as accountant in a big forniture firm in Italy but, after gave birth to my second son, I decided that I wanted to change path and work as a developer.
So I start again studying (because I forgot EVERYTHING!), but this time I started from Front-End. So I learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React. Now I'm curious about NoSQL DB and to go deeper in what I already learnt.
Hope to find here the place where I'll be inspired!
That's really cool! Software development is a 2nd career for me too, I used to be a lawyer. Honestly, this is way more fun!
A lawyer? wow!
Yeah, I think it's more creative and I needed something like this in my life.
Now, I hope very hard to find a job soon, so I can have some experience and not only courses!
What's your experience?
I am completely self-taught (big shout out to Coursera, edX and Udacity) and I started learning mostly as a way to keep myself busy after my first kid was born. After doing that for a while, I sort of realized that I could probably get someone to pay me to keep doing this thing I enjoy! For me, finding a job was pretty easy (in 2015, in a regional tech hub in the US). I went to some career fairs, sent out some resumes, bombed a few interviews, but eventually got hired by the company I still work for. The best thing I've found about this field is that what you can do counts for way more than where (or if) you went to school. Something that I don't think gets emphasized very much in universities, boot camps, and online classes is that advancement in a programming career depends at least as much on your people skills as it does on your technical skills. Being willing to mentor team members with less experience, being able to communicate well in writing, and approaching issues from a collaborative and problem-solving viewpoint have kept me moving up the career ladder pretty quickly.
Good luck with the job hunt!
I read that most of the people that change career path, they do it always in the company where they're actually working. This things fright me a bit! But thank you to share your experience with me, it helps me to know where to find more places great to study!

Hello there! I'm Sathish,
I'm currently finished my Bachelor's in Computer Science. I find my interest in web development and open source contributions. To develop my career and my coding skills I find that I alone can't do it while learning. So I found dev.to blog platform to incredibly increase my skills in a short amount of time and well that's how I'm here now š ļø.
hello!
Hi there!
I am Yuriy. I have experience in video game development in unity C#, music production and sound design. right now I am a Fullstack student in ITC Bootcamp in Tel-Aviv.
Today we had a lecture about writing a Medium article, it was the first time that I saw platforms like dev.to, medium.com, deily.dev and hashnode.com.
Usually after every lecture I tend to keep researching more on the learned topic, so In the process I stumbled across a youtube video explaining why web presence is important for developers and so I decided to take part in those platforms.
I hope to learn more about the dev community and eventually take part in it!
