Hello!
I am new to the coding world and am intimidated a bit, but curious nonetheless to learn it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I should back up a bit by saying that I am not totally new to the coding world as I am the Director of Customer success for the wonderful company @Feldroy. I take care of a lot of different things that encompass the company, with the exception of the technical coding part of things. So, that's why I am here, to be able to better assist with our customers' technical questions.
Whew, I did it! As intimidating as it was, I feel good about taking the first step into this new world. Cheers everyone!
Cheers, Carla! That's awesome that you're getting into learning to code. You have the kind of eye for detail and structure that would make you a great coder, and I'll help you however I can!
Some things that may help you on your coding journey:
Thank you for the pointers, Audrey!

Hey dev.to people! I'm Rodrigo (aka MDK, mdkcore); posting here as I've just posted on some old welcome thread :p
linux and game development are my passion, also, I like c/c++, python and shell scripting, still learning some programming languages (like go and rust) and trying to finish my new VPS setup to migrate all my stuff.
my friend told me about the site, and I hope to learn a lot and help everyone here!

Hi everyone wave, I'm Debra-Kaye, a Graphic Designer. I've always been interested in Information Technology (design and programming) and studied I.T. at university, but coding didn't stick and I never got into the field. Now I'm re-learning coding through self-study as I aspire to become a Frontend Developer.
Looking forward to connecting with and learning from you all :).
How is your self study coming along? Where are you studying? I am on a self study right now as well. Currently I am on edX
It's going okay so far. Would love to have a friend on this journey though. I'm doing Frontend Master's Web Development Bootcamp. After that, i'm going to do freeCodeCamp.

Yo! Name is Jo, and I'm new here. I love a whole bunch of coding things, especially fun stuff. I found this place by clicking someone's link. Just starting out my first full time software developer job in a week using Python (which I've been cramming this week since I haven't learnt it before now). Before now I've learnt Ruby and Rails, Javascript and the MERN stack, plus the obvious HTML and CSS that go with web dev stuff.
So tell mw what's fun to do around here and what are some post I should definitely read?

Hello! I've lurked reading posts on dev.to for a couple years, and finally decided to jump in and introduce myself.
I'm a software engineer (mostly big data -- so much Hadoop) turned startup entrepreneur over the past 6 months. I dabble in personal OSS projects, and mess around answering questions on Quora, but mostly I work : ), so I figured the best way to introduce myself was to post what I've been building.
(the tl,dr is, I feel passionate about helping empower everyone at a company who can script. We've tried to make it easy for anyone to build cloud-native internal tools, whether they're a full-time dev, or spend 2 hours a week hacking in Python).
I've gotten a lot out of the posts I've read here, and hope I can contribute back now and then. Look forward to getting to know everyone (or at least some of you).
Hello! I'm learning to code and web design. This year I want to build my portfolio so I've joined Dev community to get out of my comfort zone and write some articles about my learnings in this long journey :)
I help professional Java developers to learn language features so they become better developers and can work on challenging projects. Excited to join dev community, will start posting my blog content here.
Hi everyone! I'm Roneet Michael but you can call me Mike. I've been reading a lot of posts on dev.to for a long time and I enjoyed reading thoughts of professional developers. I finally decided to create an account here. I was a digital marketer for last 4 years and now I have switched to programming. Currently I am learning C Language as a part of my College education.
Hey I just read your post you said that it wasn't like you were a gardener or something but that's what I was doing in the beginning not by choice cause that's what my dad was doing and he would have me help him it take a lot away from me my time and education and I wish I would of had the internet a long time ago it would of helped me then when I needed it school was never very much for me I feel like I'm starting from scratch all over again but I have learned some things but it isn't enough to get me going
Hi everyone!
I'm Leslie and I'm teaching myself to code and taking data science and python courses currently so that I can switch from sales to software development or data science. Very interested in learning from everyone and taking on some of the daily challenges to further sharpen my skills!

Hi, I'm new to Dev, I usually participate in Stack Overflow to ask and answer questions. I used to like blogging but can't be bothered to setup a blog using Wordpress any more, then stumbled across Dev whilst reading about a good example of a 'fast site'.
I'm contemplating writing some technical posts here, although I don't like the idea that I can't monazite the posts (ads)?
Hi!
Joined the community after I saw this mentioned in the indieweb dev Slack channel.
AFter being a retired ex-technologist :-) lockdown made me look for something more constructive than gardening :-)
Hi DEV-ionardos
Am medically 'retired' from my former profession; looking to transition in tech!
I wish to setup a CIC (in UK it is a Community Interest Company [a social company]); to support the underrepresented groups in #tech :-)
Hello Everyone
My work brought me here, I was told to write a documentation for bitbucket pipeline that I implemented for the company I work for so, instead of writing the documentation/tutorial in google sheets as previous devs of the company did, I decided to write a blog post and share it with the world so everyone can benefit from it. First I resolved to write the blog on medium but it required a stripe account which isn't supported in my country. Then I came across the articles from dev.to from which I realized this is the place which is developer centric and I will write the documentation/tutorial on this platform
Who or where am I supposed ask questions to? I don't know what to ask I don't know what to do I don't know what to start with I want to code but I been having a hard time with it some things I'm trying isn't helping me cause I have been trying to use some apps to help me learn but when they start getting to hard I will stop using it I want to do a project I want something that will help me and it would be able to help others cause I have a hard time with things I don't have that much time for things and some things I'm not allowed to do but I have been trying to learn and some of the things is costing me money there is some one else I have talked to but he hasn't been having it that hard with everything it isn't costing him anything I don't know how he is doing it I know I haven't done much I have been trying to get it
Hey folks!
I'm an Architect at a gaming company in the bay. I've been coding for about 10 years now. I'm trying to take control of my career and:
Since this is such a broad and general undertaking, progress has been slow. Any helpful tips are welcome!
Hi everyone, great to be here - thought I'd give a short intro on my journey as a dev.
I started building playing around with coding when I was 13, back in 1994. My friend and I took a UNIX class in Berkeley taught by an John Muster, the guy who wrote the awesome book, "UNIX made easy." That class was a lot of fun and really kicked-off my love of getting under the hood with computers. After that I took a C class and that gave me the final push I needed to decide I wanted to really go further in software eng space.
I decided to go to college for Computer Engineering + Computer Science (Carnegie Mellon) and most of the coding I did then was C and Java. After college I worked for a cool digital music company (Sonos) but decided I was sick of coding and wanted to get out in the world and spend more time talking to and interacting with people. So for nine years I worked in Sales, it was a blast, I helped launch Sonos' business in Asia, Australia, Latin America, and Canada, traveled a ton, saw the world, and got inspired to start a company.
We started our company (Bold Metrics) in 2012, I was our CTO for the first two years and then as we raised more funding we hired someone to take my place. Fast-forward to today and I still work a lot with our engineers but mostly as a VP Eng helping things stay organized and making sure we're rocking as a team.
I still code, mostly in Python, but most of the coding I do is for myself and my own projects. I recently started learning COBOL because I read about the immediate need for COBOL developers and wanted to see if I could help out. I love learning new programming languages, after COBOL - Go is definitely next on the list.
Okay, well this ended up being a lot longer than I expected but, no point in going back and deleting things so if you made it this far, thanks for reading, I'm happy to be here and look forward to contributing to the community!
Hello, I am Diego Rojas, I am a mechatronic technician in Bogota, Colombia and I am new here; The first thing you should know is that I don't speak English very much but I would like to know more about programming. I would be interested if someone could guide me, to do community projects and learn many more programming languages.

This one is all I want at this moment and I want to comment then I have to join and now have joined I don't know how to get to my previous page . I expect after the login it should redirect me to my favourite article I want to comment on but it brought me here 🙄.

My name is Dave, and I'm a software engineer from Dublin, Ireland.
I am the founder of CodeScreen, a developer assessment platform.
Mainly a backend engineer (Java, Kotlin, Clojure) but also have done a fair share of frontend development (Angular, TypeScript, etc.). Big advocate and passion for serverless.
I came across a couple of interesting posts on here over the last few weeks, so I thought I would sign up to read more cool articles and hopefully contribute too!
Happy to be here and meet you all!
The reasons for me being here is that i want engaged my self in greatest world researcher discoveries that can even change the world for a better place and bring peace and unity ,that is my will and my ambition.
I came here because of a Blockstack tutorial.
I have a question: Are touch events supported in iOS Safari or not? The Apple website says they are, but caniuse says they are not.
(I already introduced myself but devbot told me to introduce myself again.)
Brace yourselves. Another member has joined the community =)
Hi fellow DEVs, Ilir's my name, I live and thrive for Quality (or in other words I'm a QA Engineer) with an overabundant obsession in DevOps and Linux topics. I stumbled upon DEV.to while procrastinating on github.
A bit about me:
I'm currently living in Munich, speak 2 foreign languages (including English) and enjoy helping people.
I consider myself as a Type C personality with a wee bit of B-type in there (for those of you who believe in it :))
I also play video games on my Personal Computer (with an increased recent activity during the covid19 lockdown).
Cheers!

I joined to cross publish my technical blog posts about Search here. Since moving into management I realized the power of written communication, so that is something I want to do much more of.
