Older people starting out in tech...

Lets set the stage a bit. I am creeping up on turning 45 in a couple months, so, I guess that I could point this at the coders, programmers, and the like that are in the over 40 crowd.

A little about myself: I had worked the same job for over 20 years and decided I needed a change, I had gotten as far up the ladder as I could, and I started looking for ideas. I found that the ever evolving world of tech is the new path I wanted to get involved in. I have sense started a boot camp and am enjoying it, and the community that it has created being there.

Now, what I am really looking for is tips and tricks that people have picked up, or know of that can help in the learning process, I really want to get the most out of this experience as I can.

I want to hear any thoughts that you have on getting a good start in this field.

Thanks in advance!
Matthew

Writing is an important aspect of programming and software development. I have learnt that studying software and programming takes one thru the first steps.

A good point is to write about what you learn and then share. May be write few lines of your own code every day (I mean five days a week, and taking off from the PC is important too so that you wont get burnt out). In a few weeks you might have few hundred lines of working code and some programs which might turn out to be an app.

Another point is to study problems posted by others (you dont have to solve them, but just thing about how you would solve those). This is an exercise which helps.
