For anyone excited, Dwarven Stronghold's sim loop is nearing completion and the procedural rendering engine is working!
Still alot of wiring to do (almost 10k modules for the sim-render) but it's getting there... It just took 10 million lines of Rust, but it's finally taking shape.
So whose excited?
If you are, lemme know, so once I actually get it at a playable state, you can test it for me (yes, be my guinea pig). Likely gunna be in a worse state than Minecraft's Alpha, but hey, that just means it can only improve!
Insane to think that a simple game takes longer than RustC to compile... But I guess that's to be expected for building it in Rust, compile slow, but it's tiny and mighty.

That looks insane i was thinking about a 2d game lol 😭 That looks really good i hope my laptop could run it...
I hope so too. It's procedural and uses SDF ray tracing, so it's 50:50, on the demo scene for the renderer (not the tunnel, outside, with water, trees, clouds and a cow walking), I was hitting 300 fps on my RX 9060xt, but at tiny window resolution. So I'm not even sure if I'll be able to run it...
That being said, I did design it to be separate rendering from sim, specifically so the game can 'run' smoothly on a potato, just the rendering end that needs optimization to make it work better. Idk, if performance is crap, I'll probably do compiled shaders and assets at launch, so no more ray-traced rendering, but should 10x rendering performance. All depends on how well it works.
