The Vonage Dev Discussion: How AI is transforming software development

Welcome back to the Vonage Dev Discussion! Recently, members of the Vonage Developer Relations team met up in New York to create content, make plans, and hang out. We even got the chance to record at a super cool studio in the Big Apple!

We took the opportunity to chat about something that’s been on everybody’s mind: artificial intelligence. We talked about how AI is impacting developer relations and tech in general.

We have a second part coming out soon, but in the meantime, we want to know: What’s one thing that AI helps you with? Where do you still prefer to do the work yourself?

I have so many thoughts about this!

I try to avoid using AI. I am very concerned about its impact on the environment.

As a tool, I will admit I use AI to help with coding -- especially when it comes to languages and frameworks I am unfamiliar with. I try to use it only after exhausting all other options. When it comes to creating written content for work, I will use AI for light editing, but I prefer to write everything myself. The exercise of writing is when I truly integrate new information into my larger understanding of the world.

I never use AI in my personal work or to make art. Art isn't about the final product. Art is about the process and the process is where I find the most pleasure. Ask me about how I still shoot on 35mm and publish handmade zines!

What's one thing AI helps me with? It's hard to find things that it doesn't help me with! I joined the mac mini hype train this week and will be figuring out how to set it up this holiday weeked 🕺
