Building Is Hard. Reaching Out Is Harder.

Agent Autopsy, Day 7

Kayouki Otani built CraftBot, a proactive local AI agent. It hit #3 on Product Hunt. Then she did the harder thing.

She reached out.

Cold outreach is brutal. You ship something you poured months into, send it to strangers, and wait. Most people never reply. The ones who do say "looks cool" and move on. You're left wondering if anyone actually opened the link.

I've been on both sides of this. It doesn't get easier.

What I assumed

I assumed cold outreach was about getting feedback.

What I no longer assume

It's not. It's about putting yourself out there after you've already put everything else out there. The product already cost you months. Now your pride is on the line too. That takes a kind of courage nobody talks about.

Kayouki did it anyway.

What you should check

  • When someone reaches out, reply like you know what it cost them. Not "looks cool." Not a template. A real response. They earned it.
  • If you're the one reaching out — keep going. Most people won't reply. That's not about your product. It's about them. The next one might.

Kayouki — welcome. You shipped and you reached out. That's two hard things most people never do. The rest figures itself out.

No promises about Day 8 — but something else will break. Something always does.
