A Celebration of Gender Equity in Software Development
March 1-31, 2024
we_coded is a yearly event that started six years ago with SheCoded. We have since evolved our message but our goal has remained the same— to create a space for women, transgender, nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, and two-spirit folks to share stories, knowledge, and make new connections on DEV.
we_coded 2024! Empowering Change for Gender Equity in Tech 🔥💪🏽
dev.to staff for The DEV Team ・ Mar 1
we_coded is our little love letter to the community, one that hopes for a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future for the tech world. In year’s past, we have used this time to look at accomplishments from our community, ask questions, share space, and celebrate the achievements of others.
Note: This is a collective action movement to inspire an inclusive, harassment-free environment! If you would like to learn about the community we would like to create, please visit our Code of Conduct and Community Guidelines.
Here’s How You Can Get Involved
Create we_coded Content
This month is a great opportunity to share content that advocates for more equitable and inclusive tech communities. Whether it's a personal story, a piece of advice, or a call to action, your contribution matters. Publish your post by starting from scratch or using this template for inspiration.
Not ready to publish your own post? You can amplify voices by leaving supportive comments and reactions on the stories you read. Even small actions can make a big difference.
Make sure to tag your post using #wecoded in order for other like-minded folks to find your content and to earn our badge!Add Your Pronouns to Your Profile
Last year we introduced the pronoun field to our settings page as part of our commitment to providing safe spaces for our LGBTQIA+ community. Please note that we do review these fields and any use for perpetuating bigotry or bullying could lead to disciplinary action.
Support Organizations That Support Gender Diversity in Tech
