From Zero to First AI Consulting Client in 30 Days (Week-by-Week Playbook)

I got my first AI consulting client in 23 days. Here's the exact week-by-week breakdown.

Week 1: Foundation

Day 1-2: Pick Your Niche

I chose "AI automation for marketing agencies" because:

  • I already knew the space (former developer)
  • Clear pain points (repetitive reporting, content creation)
  • Budget available (agencies bill $100-300/hr, so $15K for automation is easy ROI)
  • Easy to demonstrate value (time saved = money saved)

Day 3-4: Build Proof of Concept

Built 3 demo automations:

  1. Email triage system (2 hours to build)
  2. Client report generator (4 hours)
  3. Content repurposing pipeline (3 hours)

Total: 9 hours of work, 3 functional demos.

Day 5-7: Set Up Online Presence

  • Simple landing page (Carrd.co — $19/year)
