🌐 OSI Model Practical Example: Data Encapsulation

How do all 7 layers work together when you send a message? Let's look at the data's journey.

Here are the key points:
🔹 1. The Journey Down (Encapsulation)
When you send a message, it starts at Layer 7 and moves down to Layer 1. Each layer adds its own specific "header" (label/envelope) to the data:
Layer 7 to 5: Prepares, formats, and secures the data session.
Layer 4 (Transport): Splits data into segments and adds TCP.
Layer 3 (Network): Adds IP Addresses (creates packets).
Layer 2 (Data Link): Adds MAC Addresses (creates frames).
Layer 1 (Physical): Converts everything into binary bits (1s and 0s) and transmits them as electrical or Wi-Fi signals.
🔹 2. The Journey Up (Decapsulation)
At the destination computer, the process reverses: Physical Layer reads signals \rightarrow Data Link checks MAC \rightarrow Network checks IP \rightarrow Transport reassembles segments \rightarrow App displays the message.
🔹 3. Why This Matters
This step-by-step flow makes network troubleshooting easy. If a cable breaks, it's a Layer 1 issue; if an IP is wrong, it's a Layer 3 issue.

🚀 The OSI model works like an assembly line, transforming thoughts into secure digital communication!
