I built Cantoro, so read this with that in mind. The right pick depends on what you want: one gift song with a name in it, or a tool for making lots of songs. Prices below were checked on 2026-11-07 on each tool's own site.
What matters when you want a song for one person
- Name in the song. Some tools sing the name in the chorus, others make a generic song and you hope for the best.
- Hear it before paying. Generation costs money, so a free preview tells you quickly whether the name comes out right.
- One-off price vs subscription. If you need one song, a monthly plan is a poor fit.
- Your own lyrics. If ChatGPT or you already wrote the words, you want them sung as written.
1. Cantoro (my tool)
Type a name, pick an occasion (birthday, love, anniversary, wedding, Christmas, mom, dad, pet, lullaby), add a detail or two, and it writes lyrics with the name in the chorus and sings two full versions in a minute or two. You can paste your own lyrics instead and they are sung word for word.
- Price: the first 60 seconds of both versions are free; keeping the full song as an MP3 is $4.99 once, no subscription, no account needed. Packs are $12.99 for 3 songs.
- Good for: one gift song, quickly and cheaply, or turning lyrics you already have into a sung track.
- Short on: the voices are generic AI singers (no cloning, no celebrity voices), there are no free credits, and if you make many songs a month a subscription elsewhere is cheaper per song.
If a name is sung wrong, each paid song can be sung again once for free. I wrote up how well the name survives in a test here: AI song name pronunciation test.
2. Suno
The general-purpose AI music generator. You describe a style and write or generate lyrics, and you get full songs. It is not built around a person's name, so you steer it yourself.
- Price: a free plan exists; Pro is $10 a month ($8 a month billed yearly) and adds downloads and commercial use, Premier is $30 a month ($24 yearly).
- Good for: many songs, experimenting with genres, full control over prompts.
- Short on: more steps and more tries to get a name pronounced well; a subscription is more than you need for a single gift.
3. GiftSong
A gift-focused service where you fill in the story and the recipient gets a shareable page, with add-ons like video and printed art.
- Price: songs start from $34.99 on its homepage; add-ons cost extra.
- Good for: a polished gift package with a share page and optional prints.
- Short on: the price is several times a one-off AI song, and the extras push it higher.
4. GiftYourSong
Another personalised-song gift service. You describe the person and your memories, hear two previews, choose one, and pay to unlock it.
- Price: $39.99 for the full song, one-off, no subscription.
- Good for: people who want to compare two previews before paying.
- Short on: the highest per-song price in this list.
5. MelodyBolt
A custom-song service with a free preview before you pay.
- Price: from £9.99 (about $13 USD) per its site.
- Good for: a cheaper gift song with a preview first.
- Short on: priced in GBP, and I did not check whether it sings lyrics you bring yourself.
Which one to pick
- One song for one person at the lowest cost, or lyrics you already have: Cantoro or MelodyBolt.
- Lots of songs and you like tinkering: Suno.
- A full gift package with a share page and prints: GiftSong.
- Two previews before you commit: GiftYourSong.
Whatever you choose, test with the name first. Names with unusual spellings are where most AI singers slip, so listen to the free preview before you pay.
Disclosure: I'm the developer of Cantoro. Prices were checked on 2026-11-07 and can change.
