If you build or buy AI agents for SEO, here is the catch: an agent that works unsupervised can make junior mistakes at 100x speed. Another video says a tool "just changed SEO forever" almost every day, but forever lasts about 24 hours.
What SEO agents do well
An agent can audit a site, write briefs and update internal links. That is real, useful work.
What a task dashboard cannot show
A dashboard of completed tasks doesn't tell you whether the business is closer to its buyers, or generating qualified pipeline and revenue.
The keyword trap, in a B2C software example
An agent finds a high-volume category keyword and builds a content plan around it. The buyers may search for a specific problem or compare vendors, and the broad results may be dominated by publishers the company has little chance of displacing.
Before ten pages are published, a person needs to:
- talk to sales
- understand what customers buy
- study the competition
- choose a winnable place to start
Sometimes that means improving one existing page. Sometimes it means leaving a working page alone.
Scale amplifies SEO mistakes
A perfectly executed brief can still move the business in the wrong direction: more pages with little value, overlapping content and site changes made without understanding their effect on the pages that bring in customers.
Google doesn't penalize a site simply for using AI. But mass-producing pages to manipulate rankings can violate its spam policies. The risk is the bad work, not the tool's label.
The agent reports work completed. Your business carries the cost of work that shouldn't have been done.
