How I built Tiny Desk AI: turning a few photos into a short band-performance video

I built Tiny Desk AI, an independent fan tool that turns your own photos into a short AI band-performance video inspired by the Tiny Desk setting. Some people also call this kind of result an "Outstanding AI" video.

The flow

  1. Upload photos of your "cast" (yourself, friends, bandmates).
  2. Choose from the available options.
  3. The generator composes the scene and renders a short clip you can download.

What I learned preparing source material

  • Clear, front-facing photos with even lighting give the most stable faces across frames.
  • One person per photo works better than group shots.
  • Short clips are far more consistent than long ones, so the product keeps them short on purpose.

Limits

It's a generative tool, so results vary between runs, and it isn't meant to recreate any real performance.

Disclaimer

Tiny Desk AI is a fan project and is not affiliated with NPR, Tiny Desk Concerts, Charlie Wilson, or The Gap Band.

You can try it at https://gettinydeskai.org. Feedback on the generation flow is welcome.
