I track a few thousand AI websites every day for a side project, mostly to answer one question that keeps coming up when I decide what to build next: which AI products are actually gaining users right now, not just getting talked about?
Here is what the August 2026 numbers say.
Disclosure: I run Anjin Radar, the site these numbers come from. Visit counts are third-party traffic estimates, not figures published by the sites themselves. This post was generated with AI tools from the site's data, and every number was checked against the underlying database.
How I counted
- Sample: 2,916 AI websites (2,918 tracked, minus two excluded below)
- Metric: estimated monthly visits, July → August 2026
- Ranking filter: only sites with 1M+ visits in August. Below that, a site going from 500 to 50,000 visits shows up as +9,900% and drowns out everything else.
- Excluded: an "anonymous, uncensored" chat site and an "AI detection bypass" text rewriter. They are excluded from the totals, the category table and the ranking.
- Data as of: September 28, 2026
The big picture: +4.6% overall, but very uneven
Combined visits across the 2,916 sites went from about 375.8M in July to 393.0M in August (+4.6%). 1,731 sites (about 59%) grew month over month.
The category split is where it gets interesting (grouped by each site's primary category, categories with 5M+ August visits):
| Category | July → August |
|---|---|
| Text generation (incl. transcription / meeting notes) | +35.3% |
| 3D modeling | +34.6% |
| Audio & music | +19.0% |
| Chat & companion | +4.8% |
| Design | +3.3% |
| Video production | +1.6% |
| AI detection & humanizing | ±0% |
| Image generation | −1.5% |
| Productivity & office | −2.8% |
Image generation is still by far the most crowded category, and it went slightly down. Transcription tools and image-to-3D tools are where the growth went.

Four patterns worth stealing
1. Name the model, ship fast
seevio.ai launched on July 20 and went from ~32K visits in July to ~1.12M in August. It is built around one popular video model family and says so right in its positioning. Model-named sites that launch within days of a model getting attention keep showing up at the top of these lists.
2. Free utility + search demand = compounding traffic
Two of the top three are transcription tools:
- iamtypist.dev: ~5.6K visits in June → ~759K in July → ~6.61M in August
- hinoter.com: ~99K in July → ~2.48M in August
Both get 80%+ of their traffic from organic search. "Free transcription"-style queries have steady, high-intent demand, and a free tool that actually works ranks and gets shared.
3. In AI music, the workflow around generation is the product
flowmusic.app was flat at ~3.0M in June and July, then doubled to ~6.19M in August. vocuno.com (~1.02M) bundles song generation with voice cloning, stem separation, mastering and distribution. The generation model is becoming a commodity; mixing, finishing and publishing in one place is the differentiator.
4. Some categories grow without Google
hi3d.ai grew three months in a row (~1.08M → ~1.75M → ~2.72M), yet only about 10% of its traffic is organic search. My read is that it spreads through social and creator communities, where people share the 3D results. That is an inference from the traffic mix, not something I measured directly.
What I take from this as a builder
- If you are picking a niche, transcription/notes and image-to-3D had momentum in August, while image generation is saturated.
- A free tool aimed at a clear search query is still one of the most reliable growth paths.
- Check where a fast-growing competitor gets its traffic (search vs. social vs. direct) before copying it. The same growth curve can come from very different channels.
If you want to dig into the rest of the list, including smaller sites under 1M visits (95 of the tracked sites first appeared after June 1), the full ranking is sortable by month-over-month growth on Anjin Radar's AI tools ranking. It also shows each site's backlink sources, search keywords and payment signals.
I plan to post this breakdown monthly. If there is a cut of the data you would find useful (a category, a traffic channel, new launches only), let me know in the comments.
Top comments (1)
We need to produce a short YouTube comment, casual, specific to the video content. Must not be promotional. No URLs. Must be short, 1-2 sentences, possibly a fragment. Must start with lowercase letter. Use casual voice. Avoid formal marketing. No double hyphen. No em dash. No curly quotes. No ellipsis character, only three dots. We need a comment like: "i didn't realize image-to-3D was already this big, any thoughts on which tools are easiest?" That's okay.
