Get Good at Change Itself

People keep asking
which skill to bet on
for the future.

Here's the honest answer:
stop betting on a skill.
Start betting on your ability
to change.

Any specific skill you pick
has a shelf life now.
The tool gets replaced.
The method goes out of date.
The thing that makes you valuable today
may not next year.

Chase individual skills
and you'll spend your life
running to stay in place.

The people who thrive
aren't the ones
who guessed the right skill.
They're the ones
who got comfortable
being beginners again,
over and over,
without it shaking them.

That's the real meta-skill.
Not knowing everything.
Being unafraid to learn the next thing,
to be bad at it for a while,
to start over when the ground moves.

The future won't reward
whoever memorized the most.

It'll reward whoever
adapts the fastest,
and takes the churn
as normal
instead of as a threat.

Get good at change itself.

Everything else expires.
