Teach It to Learn It Twice

You think you understand something.
Then you try to explain it,
and the gaps appear.

That's the secret hiding in teaching:
it's one of the fastest ways
to actually learn.

When you explain a thing,
you can't hide in a vague sense
of "yeah, I kind of get it."
You have to make it clear,
and you can't make clear
what you don't truly hold.

So teach early. Teach often.
Write the post. Answer the question.
Explain it to the person one step behind you.

You'll discover exactly where
your understanding is thin —
and filling those gaps
is the learning, doubled.

You don't teach because you've mastered it.
You teach and, in the teaching,
you finally do.

The best way to learn it twice
is to help someone learn it once.
