As developers, we constantly search for code examples, programming syntax, API documentation, CLI commands, and useful development resources. Sometimes, finding one simple answer means opening multiple tabs and switching between different websites.
That's the problem CodeRef.xyz aims to solve.

What is CodeRef?
CodeRef is a developer reference platform built to make everyday programming lookups easier. The idea is to give developers a convenient place to find coding references and resources without wasting unnecessary time searching.
Whether you're building a frontend application, working on a backend API, or exploring a new technology, quick access to the right information can make your workflow smoother.
What can developers find?
CodeRef aims to bring useful developer resources together, including:
- Code Examples: Find examples that help you understand programming concepts and implementation patterns.
- Programming References: Look up syntax and commonly used coding techniques.
- API References: Find useful information when working with APIs and integrations.
- CLI Commands: Quickly reference commands used in development workflows.
- Cheat Sheets: Keep important technical information accessible.
- Developer Resources: Discover references that help with everyday coding tasks.
Why build another developer resource?
There are already many excellent documentation websites and developer tools. CodeRef isn't about replacing them. It's about making common references easier to discover and access.
When you're in the middle of development, you don't always need a lengthy tutorial. Sometimes, you just need a quick example, a command, or a reminder of the correct syntax.
That's the experience we're working toward with CodeRef.
Who is CodeRef for?
CodeRef is intended for:
- Frontend developers working with modern web technologies.
- Backend developers building APIs and server-side applications.
- Full-stack developers switching between different technologies.
- Students and beginners learning programming.
- Experienced engineers who need quick technical references.

Version ambiguity is the frustration I'd want a reference tool to solve. A short API example can look right while belonging to a different major release. Could each snippet show the supported version, a link to the original documentation and when it was last checked? For CLI commands, a visible note about destructive effects would help too. A useful test query would be two versions with the same method name but different arguments: can a reader tell which example fits before copying it?
Thanks for the valuable feedback! 🙌 This is exactly the kind of problem we want CodeRef to solve. Version-specific code examples, official documentation links, last-verified dates, and CLI safety warnings are great suggestions. We’ll consider these features to make CodeRef more reliable and help developers find the right example before copying it. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts! 🚀
