The Hidden Time Tax of Manual Workflows

We talk a lot about "time saved" with automation, but rarely quantify it. For garage owners, manual job cards, invoicing, and customer calls can eat 7-14 hours a week — nearly a full extra workday, lost to repetitive tasks.

Building Autodots, this was the core problem we focused on: not adding features, but removing the small repetitive tasks that quietly drain time every day.

Curious what "hidden time tax" patterns others have noticed in non-tech industries.

the one i see everywhere is the "is it ready yet" call. it's a double tax: the customer only calls because nothing told them the status, and the call interrupts the exact person doing the work. a single automated "your car's ready" text kills both sides of it. the sneaky part is nobody logs those calls as work, so the time never shows up in any report and it looks free.
