That's why I rarely participate on Stack Overflow.
Just happened to me.
Me: searching for term X
SO: No answers!
Me: Writing good question with problem, what I tried and example code
SO: -1
Me: why?
SO: Duplicate answer! You need to search for Term Y
Me: Never heard of that
SO: Your problem
This is why duplicates are not deleted. So that others searching might find your question and be directed to the existing answer. If your question helps lead people to the solution they need some of them may come back and upvote your post (I would).
