About me personally
After 15 years of abusing my body, eating poorly and doing no exercise I have been hitting the gym hard the last few months! Loving it (still weak and fat, but less weak and less fat than I was 3 months ago!)!
I have also been improving my diet, luckily I really enjoy cooking, it has always been something that I find relaxing.
I spend a lot of time reading and writing nowadays, I really love challenging my own beliefs and biases so I tend to try and read things that conflict with my own views and opinions.
I have an unusual talent, I can watch 2-3 seconds of a film and (assuming I have watched it), tell you what film it is purely from the colour grading and sound design etc. Maybe I missed my calling in video production π€£
Occasionally I draw, I am useless at people etc. but I love architecture so I draw cityscapes, dream houses etc.

I started developing software in 1981 at the age of 13 and started a games company when I was 15. At 17 I made a game that sold 500,000+ units and ended up working for UbiSoft and living in Paris. Since then I've formed three companies, managed to float one of them on the London Stock Exchange at the height of the Dot Com bubble - fortunately surviving that nightmare!!! My coding career has allowed me to live in 5 countries and visit more than 70.
I still code every day and am a passionate believer in lifelong learning. I've been a CTO for 22 years and I strongly believe you have to understand the code to direct a product. I also think that there is no hierarchy to good ideas and that my best work is done when I'm part of a high functioning team.

I've taught myself PHP when I was 13 or 14 years old (32 now) and stuck with web tech every since, first as a hobby, later as education and then as my day job. I actually did my bachelors degree when I was already working in the field for almost 10 years, now thinking about doing a masters degree as well. I feel comfortable coding in any language, basically, as I consider them tools, just like hammers. You have to get used to the quirks of a language, but once you know the syntax, they're just like any other tool. I'm doing a lot of frontend stuff lately, but I'm also interested in backend, API development, desktop apps with Java and JavaFX, SBCs, such as the RaspberryPi and some game dev and ML stuff here and there. All things tech, really.
SBCs bring me to my main hobby: Tinkering! With electronics, soldering, woodworking and being a general handyman. I enjoy creating things (guess why I started writing lol) and teaching other people how to do the same. Seeing how people get better and gain understanding always puts a smile on my face. I also enjoy reading and rock climbing, as well as music. Next to that, I'm active in the local Samaritan association where we provide medical first aid at medium to large events, such as marathons, festivals, fairs etc. I'm also active in civil protection/disaster control (it was either helping people or going to the army, Switzerland is rather strict in that regard, mandatory service and such, army was not an option for me) since a good 12 years in the rank of a company commander, coordinating flood protection, initial accomodation for refugees, helping out in hospitals and such.

I recommend you start with a RaspberryPi and some bread board and basic parts, such as buttons, LEDs and resistors and some jumper cables. No soldering required, but you'll get a feel for the parts. Work your way up from there and learn more about electronics. Don't be afraid of frying things every now and then, happens to the best. I'd recommend using batteries or the 5v output of a Pi as a start, as the worst that could happen is maybe a a blister on your finger. Keep in mind that electricity is dangerous and approach it with due respect and you'll have a ton of fun! There's also construction kits out there that come with all the necessary parts and only need assembling with a soldering iron. If you design curcuits yourself, be sure you got the maths correct beforehand. Once you also take wood working or metal working into the process you can build amazing machines that look awesome. I recommend Adam Savage's Tested on YT, he's a huge inspiration :D
I am software engineer from Islamabad, Pakistan. I mostly work on React Native and React. Currently I am working as a React Native Frontend Lead in UK based company. I also write tech blogs here related to frontend technologies.
Other than that I love to draw, paint and sketch. All of my artworks are on my insta. I also like to crochet I'm learning it nowadays. I naturally like to organize things so in my free time I mostly cleaning mess create by my siblings and organising the space. π
French web developer mainly but touches everything. Volunteer mod here at DEV. I learn Nuxt at this moment and databases. β Addict to Cappuccino and Music
Having studied electronics, I learned on my side to develop with a very old computer. Over the years, I was able to exploit more of the Web dev and other languages that are useful to me today.
Since one month, I am following a training that will give me a diploma at the end. π¨πΌβπ I am so happy to be part of this path, to finally be recognized as a developer and not an electrician! π₯°π
Apart from coding, I like to read from time to time, my latest books are about the world of Harry Potter, and a written account of a Youtuber's life called "I am not virile" (In French : "Je ne suis pas viril (Amazon link)"). Very good book ! π
I also like to play with friends and also go out for a walk and clear my head.
I mostly build small, specialized tools so that leads me to dabble a lot. I've focused on C# lately since it can be used for many different types of applications. But I can use other languages if needed for the project.
In my personal life, I love playing board games with my family and friends and enjoying the California sunshine π
I love questions like this because it allows me to elaborate on my boring life and procrastinate anything else :D
So here we go, be prepared.
About me as a dev:
I started coding back when I was around 10 or 11. I wasn't really serious about it, I just got a little interested and was like "oh that looks kinda cool and I can flex on my friends". Turns out I was just looked at weirdly...
Either way, after realizing that Java wasn't the language for me, I switched to python which I really liked, and like to this very day. Along the way I learned a variety of other languages including Go. I even looked at Assembly for quite a while without any real reason...
So what skills was I able to improve on or master over the years? None. I'm still in the process of learning, and I think this won't ever change. I figure out new things almost weekly, I find out how to make my code more effective, clean or whatever. That's also what I love so much about coding.
Right now I'm mostly focussing on front-end development and theoretic stuff about things like compilers (yes I'm aware that there is absolutely no connection between those two). As you can guess from these two very different things, I still haven't really decided what field I really want to go into.
Do I have any job experience till now? Well, I had a few small jobs and a rather large one that I actually have right now!
Also, I hope to get a summer job again this year!
About me as a person:
I'm 16 years old and was born and still live in Austria. I'm still in school that isn't focused on software development or IT in general, in fact, the PCs there sometimes take over 45 minutes to boot, so you can probably tell that IT isn't really top priority around there.
Either way, besides coding I like a few things like:
1) Writing!
I have been writing stories ever since elementary school! Over the past few years the genre shifted a "little" from fantasy to (psychological-)horror or thriller. I usually write rather short stories that just go over a few pages, though I wrote something that could be considered a small book a few times already :D
2) Music!
I absolutely love music. Music is literally everywhere in my life. The first thing I do after I brushed my teeth in the morning is put on my headphones. My friends sometimes call me a walking music encyclopedia ;)
As of right now I'm also learning to sing which is going "really well"
3) Videogames
My main way of relaxing (besides music) after a long day. Also something that for some reasons manages to get me to be more focussed when studying! In case you ever experience concentration problems try playing a videogame for 30-50 minutes in case your schedule allows it, it really helps me!
That's already more than enough for just a comment... :')
I hope you all have a great day :)
Hello Developers!
I am Meet Gor, currently a sophomore IT student doing internship that involves making web apps in Django and Python. Writing articles about whatever I learn.
Apart from programming, I love to write and read fiction, sometimes do a bit of drawing. Into a bit of sports like cricket and football(not much). Casual Gamer and an introvert :)
A newbie and a night owl in software engineering world, willing to create amazing websites and web apps. On a journey to become a MERN Stack and an Open-Source enthusiast.
I'm a software engineer with an emphasis on engineer. I worked in the industry for ten years, then specifically went through a famous software engineering masters program (the one Steve McConnell graduated from, among others) in order to soak up the best ideas from academia and the industry (adjunct faculty were from Microsoft, Google, and Amazon) before being spit out into another 8 years at companies like Expedia, Zillow, and eBay. I'm currently a staff software engineer working on public APIs at eBay. (Opinions expressed are my own, however.) I love working at "web scale" and improving what customers care about. And my customers happen to be other developers!
I'm an avid outdoorsperson. I'm a gambler in the Gambler 500 sense, always happy to help clean up public lands and keep them available and open. I'm a fan of punk and garage rock. I'm a mountain biker. I'm a "typical Seattlite." I also have a bachelors in English/Writing and an interest in everything book-related. I'm predictably a fan of sci-fi the most. My favorite author is PKD.
I'm working on a next-gen JavaScript debugger. Hoping to publish with Show HN and ProductHunt soon (or whichever kind of outlets are out there where I can find people who are as pained by our antiquated tools as I am)?
I don't think I have a life outside of code. I like to take walks and do low-mobility exercises regularly to cope with some stupid health problems.

Hello developers,
I'm a front-end student and illustrator, Brazilian, I'm 21 years old.
I have studied HTML, CSS and Algorimo. I've always liked arts and design a lot, but I also want to learn more about the backend, because I like the logic too.
In my personal life, I really like to draw and go for walks with family and friends.
I class myself as a former developer, now heading up a number of engineering teams across different projects. I still code in my spare time but no longer contributing on a daily basis. Iβve worked across the stack but have a real love for pure CSS and have tried my hand at solving UI problems with little to no JavaScript.
Iβve got a few hobbies but right now Iβm trying to draw one thing everyday, I write a blog entry once a week and play football (soccer) when I can. Sometimes with the kids and weekly with friends.
Hi there,
I am a full-stack engineer having a keen interest in coding and debugging. I am also consider myself as a technical writer, who love to share informative blogs or updates on various topics and brings great information to my readers. Being Coding is my passion, I am also curious about SEO. My content has featured on many mainstream sites & blogs. And when I am not writing or coding, you can find me wandering in the mountains.
Looking forward to your contribution & support!
I'm a entry level developer, hoping to change my career path to the tech world. I have managed series of events both diverse and tech events and would say I'm good at people and event management. I would love to be a full blown developer someday. My stack is Python web development with Django Framework. Hoping to be an intern too.
Outside Code I am a Nigerian, historian by Study, I love planning and volunteering. I love to bake and travel alot.
Writing articles about my personal experience is my new found love and I hope to do that more.
I love to cook and eat good food too.
β’ Final year Computer science and Engineering student.
β’ Currently interning with VMware.
β’ Proficient in MERN & MEAN stacks.
β’ Done internships spanning both App (React Native) and Web Development.
Looking for freelance remote work preferably with React/React Native/Next js.
I light house in night and speed up to bed. the time to interactive is better in night. But due to this interaction, I end up late in morning scrum. Catch up in afternoon and light house in night again.
I'm a career-changer into tech (in a previous life I helped international students with visa advice and qualification equivalencies), and having started my career in an agency I have experience with a lot of different company, stack, and product types - from banking apps, to burger-ordering touch screens and beyond π For a while I specialised in android app development, before eventually falling in love with the frontend and specialising in accessibility.
Me, the person:
I love making things! Specifically, I love sewing and making clothes. I get really invested in the whole process - adjusting patterns for the perfect fit, adding that perfect finishing touch of a neat top-stitch... I also love hunting in charity shops for the perfect garment to upcycle and tailor into something new.
I live in Scotland, right on the East coast and spend a lot of my time walking on the beach, hiking up hills and nature trails π±
I am a sort of jobber developer. About 10+ years of development.
I used to create Desktop Utilities using Java Swing & set up small WP sites.
Post-2015, I switched to Javascript cross-platform.
I am really good at Ionic & Cordova. Half decent in NativeScript / React Native + 20+ technologies I am bored to list.
I can probably pick up any tech under 6-8 weeks and realign at will.
I have okayish knowledge of Digital Forensics & OWASP. Sort of passion thing.
Linux Mint is my favorite, but I use Windows for Gaming.
I have set up and worked with a lot of forum software. phpBB(Had few custom plugins for DnD) & SMF are favorites.
I am part of XDA-Developers Mod team, which had vB and is currently running Xenforo.
This means I am banning spam every day.
In my free time I am watching anime(waiting for Spy X Family), reading manga(OP 1044 hype!!), playing old RTS/NFS games & taking naps. Supreme Commander is peak RTS imo. NFS Most Wanted 2005 is peak NFS. I did get GT 4 in last sale and I think I would need a good gamepad to enjoy it.
I am backend developer because I suck as styling and it annoys me sometimes. I want to mainly establish myself as a python, js and java backend developer. Two down, java more to go.
Personally, I wanted to become a teacher but ended up a developer.. Hurray!! I write poems as a hobby just like I used to code but now its my source of income. I am not necessarily not interested in sports but would like to participate or watch and never and never consider to join. I prefer combat sport over football or soccer. I think I want to be in the coaching position - maybe i am afraid of getting hit in the face.
Hi all,
I am Shadid, coder, blogger, entrepreneur and a developer Advocate @fauna_admin by day. Love everything JavaScript and GraphQL, ohh yes I get paid to do that as well ;)
I love long hikes, nature and travelling to South America :-)
Full-stack developer coming from Croatia. I enjoy programming, working out in the gym, and hanging out with my beautiful son and wife. Lately, I've been running a business around my open-source component library for Blazor, named Blazorise (blazorise.com/)
I am Freita Browning and I work as a senior web developer. I love coding and also like to create quality content for my audience. In my free time, I write articles and blogs to provide the best information to my audience.
Me as a Dev:
I'm a recent college grad and Junior Software Engineer at CGI. I currently work as a full stack developer using Spring boot / Postgres / Angular. Getting into software dev a job is quite a bit different than school that's for sure!
Personal Side:
I've been really focusing on my health / mental health this year, and I think I'm really stating to see some results! Outside of that I've been spending more time out hiking and enjoying all the national and state parks around me.
My software development journey got serious in the secondary school when I landed few jobs thanks to the friend from the other class (I was 16 at the time). Most of them were done with PHP but there were few where I used Ruby, JavaScript (Node.js) and Python. After that I competed on few hackathons and landed my first full time job when I was 19. Since then I've worked mostly with JavaScript (both on the front-end and on the back-end) and Java / Kotlin.
In my spare time I love to read - my bookshelf consists mostly of the books related to psychology, philosophy and politics. I like to watch documentaries, play guitar, have a long walks, drive (I feel like I can spend the whole day just driving around), shoot and travel.
I'm a backend developer and recently graduated with a bachelor degree in computer engineering. I knew I wanted this degree when I was 12yo, so that's kinda neat. I'm mostly working with Python right now, doing lots of Django.
I'm a full-stack developer. Hobbyist. I got into coding when school life got too boring and I had too much extra time on my hands. Plus, my dad was also learning developement. He taught me HTML basics, then I learnt the rest of the stuff from the web.
That was 5 years ago. Now, I can say that I am extremely good at JavaScript. I also know the rest of the web technologies, TypeScript, some other stuff.
I don't really code any projects. Boy, I bet I haven't completed a single coding project in my life yet. I thrive in the soft spot between coding and learning and most of the time I quickly lose interest in projects once we get to the tedious parts.
I'm a backend guy. I love crunching numbers, running servers, minutely managing efficiency, golfing code, writing my own programming languages(!) and other complex work. I don't really care for aesthetic - I never did.
I've to add that I'm an absolute perfectionist. Sometimes I spend the whole day trying to make that one little syntax highlight perfect. I use Vim, and this leaves infinite room for customisation so this happens quite a lot.
About me, I'm a 8th grader (will be 9th in a few weeks!) in a remote little village in Kannur, Kerala, India. I also lived some (half) of my life abroad in Oman. For some reason everyone thinks I'm the smartest kid in class (I've denied that a million times :). I absolutely love origami (the art of paper folding) and reading. I also (try to) speedcube sometimes, and I can solve the 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, and the mirror cube. I'm also pretty handy with cardboard and paper. I love creating stuff.
I am a casual programmer, working on my first major project which is a Twitter clone. I know the MERN stack, and hope to continue increasing my knowledge and experience.
My personal life, I work in hospitality, and I have an interest in everything creative (except using pastels). π
Iβm a Frontend developer from Egypt, Giza,
I started to learn development after Corona quarantine and I landed my first job the last year on Sep before my birthdayπ₯³ At first i was struggling to code and I wasnβt into it but after a while I loved to learn new things and Share that with my friends
About my personal life, Iβm trying to organize my day and replace the bad habits with good oneβs like reading, gym, daily learning.. I love to chill and watch movies, tv shows, stand-up comedy shows
I'll go first.
I'm a developer by trade, but also a longtime entrepreneur and company founder, so my day job these days is less development-focused. My main specific expertise is Ruby on Rails.
In my personal life, I'm a Canadian living in New York State. I'm one of five kids growing up. I'm married with two dogs and have pretty eclectic interests in my personal time: I'm a lifelong comic book fan, into sports, enjoy art and design, and generally like to make things.

'Average' is a tricky word to use for a developer...no one knows everything , not even top I.T. management.
Certain projects take years and various refinements . It is by working together that we get the job done.
Good luck to you! Hope to see some of these cityscapes someday.π€©

I like video games, anime, and cooking.

Hello Everyone,
I am a backend developer working on Microservices/Cloud Native development.
Java is my primary language but I dabble in Go during weekends.
Recently started writing on Dev.to . My mornings start with checking out news.ycombinator.com/
Trying to learn distributed systems which I feel will help me in the long run.
I love the theory parts of it and want to implement them on my own.
I love reading books on physics and mathematics. I finished reading "Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid". Phew! It was long.
When AFK, I do some cooking and watch cooking/travel shows. Binge them actually. ;)
I light house in night and speed up to bed. the time to interactive is better in night. But due to this interaction, I end up late in morning scrum. Catch up in afternoon and light house in night again.
Me, the developer:
Hi all,

I love long hikes, nature and travelling to South America :-)
Full-stack developer coming from Croatia. I enjoy programming, working out in the gym, and hanging out with my beautiful son and wife. Lately, I've been running a business around my open-source component library for Blazor, named Blazorise (blazorise.com/)
I am Freita Browning and I work as a senior web developer. I love coding and also like to create quality content for my audience. In my free time, I write articles and blogs to provide the best information to my audience.
Hello all!
I live in Canada, in a rural area in QuΓ©bec. I have a girlfriend and no kids. Outside of tech I like sciences, urbanism, philosophy, social causes and sports.
Hey there! I'm Siddharth, aka Sid.
Hi guys,
I'm a dev cos I generally like making stuff, my main language is js then python and ts on the side.
22 and trying to decide whether a master's is worth it or I should just keep working.
Outside coding I enjoy reading manhwa, the occasional manga/manhua, looking at art and some reading/writing.
Cheers π
I am a casual programmer, working on my first major project which is a Twitter clone. I know the MERN stack, and hope to continue increasing my knowledge and experience.
My personal life, I work in hospitality, and I have an interest in everything creative (except using pastels). π
Shouldn't that be "Roll Call"?
Iβll try my best to describe myself
Iβm a Frontend developer from Egypt, Giza,
I started to learn development after Corona quarantine and I landed my first job the last year on Sep before my birthdayπ₯³ At first i was struggling to code and I wasnβt into it but after a while I loved to learn new things and Share that with my friends
About my personal life, Iβm trying to organize my day and replace the bad habits with good oneβs like reading, gym, daily learning.. I love to chill and watch movies, tv shows, stand-up comedy shows
Thatβs it
I'm a programming addict...I love to learn new programming languages...my work ones are Python and Ruby, however, my favourite ones are R and Fortran.
Outside programming...I love reading books, mangas, comics and listening to Punk Rock Music.
