Who's looking for open source contributors? (April 16 edition)

Anybody working on an open source project and looking for contributors?

Post here shamelessly!

If you posted in a previous one of these threads, feel free to re-post here.

Did you find this post useful? Show some love!

I was sick of the miserable Windows 10 search function and started developing an 'alt+space' launcher for Windows (like Spotlight/Alfred/Launchy) called 'ueli'. When I started this project I just had some basic HTML/CSS/JS knowledge so I decided to try out Electron. Feel free to hate me for that ;) You can check it out here: github.com/oliverschwendener/ueli. Any contribution, feedback or code review is welcome!

Qub³d Engine Group is a brand new voxel-based engine and game project, aiming to make a mature and extensible Minecraft-like game, backed by a vibrant and friendly community.

Anyone with interest in or experience with the following technologies are encouraged to join the project. They're just starting up, so there's plenty of room to find your niche:

  • C++ (especially C++17)
  • Clang compiler (GCC secondary)
  • OpenGL
  • GLFW (not necessarily final)
  • Lua
  • Sphinx (documentation)
  • CMake

The easiest way to get started is to join the Discord room. Link is on the website: qub3d.org

Viano is a code toy that lets you write songs using Vue components. It was retweeted by most of the Vue core team last week and is now the #6 most starred repo on GitHub in the music-composition tag. Contributions are welcome, regardless of your experience level. There aren't any hoops to jump through or strict rules about pull requests and commit messages.

If you put up a pull request and it's your first open-source contribution ever, let me know and I'll be extra helpful.

Hey there, we see you aren't signed in. (Yes you, the reader. This is a fake comment.)

Please consider creating an account on dev.to. It literally takes a few seconds and we'd appreciate the support so much. ❤️

Plus, no fake comments when you're signed in. 🙃

ventas is an ecommerce platform written entirely in Clojure.
I would love to have more Clojure devs (it's just me at the moment) and web designers.
If you want to learn the language, it would be a good exercise, and a fantastic first contribution to the community :)

nx-build is a project file generator for C & C++, using Javascript as a scripting language. It's a project that I started quite recently so any contributions or tips/advice would be awesome (I'm still quite new to the whole node/JS thing :D)

  • Node.js (Using javascript and not typescript - yet... muahhahahaha)
  • Mocha testing framework

NSFAI is a module that’s built over Clarifai, exclusively for NSFW detection. It’s designed to be easily integratable into existing projects.

We’re looking for...

  • Making the response object of predict() better.
  • Adding URL file type/video detection to our dataParsed.
  • ...and anything else!

Feel free to open a PR or shoot me a DM at @skiilaa if you want to help or for further discussion.

John Dorian is a simple and lightweight JavaScript library aimed to provide non-coders with easy-to-use components for their pages, configurable with HTML attributes.

I welcome any contributor for ideas, bugs reports, some JS, design skills…

Take a look at the GitHub repos: github.com/john-dorian

If you have any questions (beginners, that includes you too) please feel free to ask them (here or on GitHub)!

DimeShift - the easiest way to track your expenses. Free. Open-source. Node.js

Webapp + Electron app

Somebody posted it to productHunt few days ago, so I have few kind messages in my inbox asking to continue development. Would be cool if somebody joins me on this way.

  • node.js (Would be cool to upgrade it to async/await, getting rid of callbacks and promises hell there)
  • backbone.js (I would like to move it to Vue though)
  • sequelize (Sequelize is good)

it's a php database abstraction layer library using the one and only PDO!

dont want to sound rude, but I think that is better you contribute to existing projects with something like this, there is one that I use and contribute to pixie which needs always new hands, especially in the postgres drivers

I built a Mac app in NW.js that lets you hack Messages.app's colors and change them, but the latest macOS updates broke the app. I don't have time to investigate and fix the bugs right now, so if anyone would like to help out, I would be very grateful! github.com/kethinov/BubblePainter

Leaf Wormies!

Okay, I'm not really looking for help with this silly game, but for the technology sitting behind it: a new language called Leaf
