How will GitHub change, now that it's owned by Microsoft?

Whether this makes you happy or sad, what's your best guess on what it will actually mean for GitHub users?

It will probably be quite a long time before anything major changes. If Microsoft wants to do anything substantial, they'll likely want to do it by boiling the frog.

That being said, I LinkedIn and GitHub are now one company. Microsoft better make any connections between the two platforms very tasteful or risk really pissing people off.

It being owned by Microsoft makes me wary. It being anywhere near LinkedIn makes me shudder. 😰

I think Microsoft wants to have one foot in the open source community just in case the community wants take it down. They bought a sit in the Linux foundation and now they are going to acquire Github.

You know once Microsoft said that open source is their competitor, so there is no other way to beat them without owning the platform they use to express themselves.
