A couple days ago, I introduced the Instagram reels scraper and now I'm excited to introduce instascrape's latest feature: the ability to scrape Instagram's long-form video sharing platform IGTV.

instascrape is a lightweight Python package that provides an expressive and flexible API for scraping Instagram data. It is geared towards being a high-level building block on the data scientist's toolchain and can be seamlessly integrated and extended with industry standard tools for web scraping, data science, and analysis.

Introducing the IGTV scraper
With the release of v1.6.0, instascrape now provides the ability to scrape IGTV data in just a few lines of code with the IGTV class:

A note on the design choice of IGTV's name

While designing the IGTV scraper, I kept bouncing between naming the class IGTV or Igtv. While there's a part of me that tries my best to stick to conventions, I just couldn't get passed how ugly Igtv looks.
One of the primary motivators for instascrape is expressive and beautiful code. Since IGTV is the name Instagram gives to the platform, this is why I decided to roll with it.
