Just like anything else you get what you give. You have to let other people know that you're actually hearing them and their ideas if you want them to consider your words in return. This is going to be the case in most situations but you unfortunately will cross paths with people who feel they don't need to provide respect to you no matter what you do. In those instances push forward and know that it wasn't bad communication practices on their end and not yours..
